Me and Kate walked to my first period class together.
But then we walked by Dylan and Lauren on our way there. She was laughing at something he said, and then they kissed. THEY KISSED. In front of me.I made eye contact with Dylan, who quickly looked away.
Kate saw my expression and said, "Come on Oliver,"
She grabbed my arm and pulled me away.
After we were far enough, Kate said, "Okay, so we hate him now,"
"Yeah, we do," I said.
I knew I shouldn't have been upset, but I still was. It had never been confirmed that he liked guys.
At lunch, we enjoyed some of the Girl Scout cookies Tyler still had.
"I can't believe we aren't through these things yet," I said.
"It's cause we left all the lemon ones till the end," Kate said, taking a bite of one, "God these are gross,"
"These are the best ones," Tyler said.
"Of course you like them," Claire said jokingly. We all laughed, even Tyler.
I couldn't help but look over at Dylan's table. But when I looked at him, he was already looking at me. He quickly looked away.
What the fuck was going on? We'd been making weird eye contact all day.
"I am so excited for the first game," Tyler said, eating his fries.
"Me too," I said. I actually enjoyed the football games, even if I had no idea what was going on.
I also think our school is good...?I drove to the football game around 6. The parking lot was already full, so I had to park in the neighborhood near by.
The bleachers were full, everyone wore hoodies and crew necks, and the football teams were warming up. I was wearing a beanie, a crew neck, and jeans."Hi squad," I said, walking up to my friends.
"Oliver!" Tyler said.
"It's cold as shit," Claire said.
"It's not that bad," Kate said.
The game started a few minutes later. I only watched a very small amount of the game. Kate and I were always too busy gossiping. It's how it always was.
"If we leave, we're gonna lose our spots!" Tyler said.
Tyler insisted we needed snacks to get through the rest of the game.
I looked at everyone else.
"I'm too cold to leave," Claire said.
"Can you bring me some hot chocolate?" Kate said, giving me puppy eyes.
"You guys are annoying," I said, jokingly.
I was always doing this shit. I walked down the bleachers towards the concession stand.
I heard my phone buzz.
From Tyler: Gummy worms
Another text: PleaseI smiled down at my phone when I felt myself hit something—not something. Someone.
"Oo, sorry," I said, looking up to see who it was, "Dylan," I said out loud involuntarily.
He was wearing a black hoodie. His hair was perfect somehow, even though it always looked messy.
"Hey," he said, "Are you in line?"
"Oh yeah," I said, walking over. He walked with me.
"My friends put me on snack duty," I said, showing him Tyler's text. He laughed.
