I embraced him tightly, my eyes closed and my heart racing. Time stood still as I held onto him, unsure of how long we stood there. Suddenly, I realized what I was doing and hesitated to move away, my face flushing with embarrassment.
As I broke the hug and stepped back, my eyes met his, and I stuttered, "I'm-I'm sorry...I'm a little afraid of the dark."
Mr. V raised an eyebrow, his gaze piercing. "I thought you only knew how to eat other people's brains," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he checked the elevator buttons.
My eyes widened, and I began to protest, "Yeah, I—" before realizing what he meant. My face fell, and I stood up straight, raising an eyebrow. "What do you mean?...I'm eating your brain," I said, my tone laced with defiance.
Mr. V smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "And what else? The lift is deteriorated after listening to your blabbering."
My jaw dropped, and I crossed my arms, raising my eyebrows three times. "Well, then I can also say that this lift has deteriorated because of your anger."
Mr. V sighed, shaking his head in disbelief. "There is no use arguing with you." He began searching his pockets, his expression frustrated. "Damn...My phone was left with Jungkook."
His eyes continued to scan his pockets, his brow furrowed in annoyance.
Mr. V cleared his throat, his voice calm and collected. "Do you have a phone?" He avoided eye contact, his gaze fixed on a distant point.
I smiled, charmed by his rare display of composure. "Yeah, I have." I retrieved my phone from my bag and handed it to him.
As he dialed, his expression transformed from calm to shock. His eyes remained fixed on the phone, then shifted to me, piercing and intense. "You have Jungkook's number saved. How?"
My mind raced, panic setting in. I couldn't reveal Jungkook's betrayal. "Act-actually...we are college friends...that's why we exchanged our numbers with each other." I forced a laugh, avoiding his gaze.
Mr. V's voice turned cold and sharp. "No! You can't talk to any other boy."
I began to respond, "Exac—" but halted, my eyes widening in shock. "Ah!..means?"
He clarified, his gaze still fixed on the phone. "I mean...if any person talks to you, that poor guy will go crazy...and I don't want my friend to go psycho because of you."
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. How did I fall for someone so possessive and infuriating? Yet, as I gazed at him, I realized my love was unwavering. I imagined him in my fantastical world, my smile growing wider.
Mr. V's voice snapped me back to reality. "Yeah, Jungkook, where are you?"
He spoke into the phone, his words laced with urgency. "I'm stuck here in the lift, and I don't know why it won't open. Quickly open this lift; I'm suffocating here...I've already tolerated so much, standing here."
