LEXA GROANED WHEN HER EYES OPENED ABOUT AN HOUR LATER. She squinted, wondering why the hell her head hurt so much. Then, it all came flooding back to her. She had been in fight with Brutus, and she had been losing. The last thing she remembered was his huge fist crashing into her face. How was she not dead? There was no way that he gave her mercy. He wanted to win the games.
She furrowed her eyebrows when she was blinded by lights. She could not have been out for that long. There was no way that it was day time yet. The sun was weird, though. It was not as warm as it usually was. She wondered for a moment if she had died. Maybe this was some weird afterlife.
As her eyes slowly got used to the light, she was even more confused. If this was heaven, it was not a very good one. The walls around her were metal, and she seemed to be in some sort of vehicle or container because it was shaking violently. She glanced around, and her eyes widened when she saw Katniss and Beetee unconscious next to her. Had they died too? What happened in the arena? Where was Isla? Where were Finnick and Johanna? Were they alright?
She climbed to her feet, realizing that the plan must have worked. They had gotten out, and they were on their way to District 13. She froze when she realized that they might not have gotten everyone out. She scanned the room once again, making sure that she was not missing an extra person lying somewhere.
