THE GROUP WAS QUIET AS THE WALKED, THE GRAVEL CRUNCHING BENEATH THEIR FEET. None of them wanted to say anything, scared that they would cover up the beeping of the Holo or somehow set something off because of their voices. Lexa would not be surprised if Snow had all of the pods set so that if they heard the tributes' voices, they would immediately go off.
"I've never seen this place so empty," Katniss commented as they looked around. The once loud and bustling streets and buildings around them were completely destroyed and deserted, no movement other than the smoke rising in the distance.
"Just keep your eyes open," Boggs responded, which was his way of telling them to shut the hell up. The Holo began beeping rapidly, and Isla began stepping more carefully. She was sure he would tell them where it was, but she did not want to take any chances. "Got a pod. Let's take cover." They walked and kneeled behind some statue, and he pointed at a clearing. "Shoot through those two buildings."
Cressida began instructing her cameramen on where to stand to get the best shot of Katniss blowing up the pod or whatever was going to happen. Neither Lexa nor Isla were very sure what a pod even was. Finally, Cressida nodded to the Everdeen girl after everything was set up. "Whenever you're ready, Katniss."
Katniss shot an arrow where Boggs told her, and immediately, fire shot from both sides, frying everything in its path. Anyone standing there would be dead before they even realized what was happening. It would be particularly painful as well. Isla felt a hand on her bicep when there was an explosion, and a car landed in their sight. The blonde glanced over to see Lexa still holding her, having just pulled her down a little bit.
