ADVIKA'S POV

"You are not going anywhere, Advika,"

I snapped my head towards the sound, only to find my father looking at the newspaper. What is he trying to do now?

"What do you mean?" I managed to question him, looking at him in disbelief.

"Oo, actually, I think you don't need to go to college,"

He uttered without lifting his head towards me, my eyebrows knit in confusion. Does he even know what he is saying right now?

"What, why do you think that I don't need to go to college?"

I asked with frustration. I was on edge to cry, but still, I tried to maintain seriousness in my voice.

He finally lifted his head and looked at me with his hatred-filled gaze. I gulped nervously.

"Don't question me back this is my order, Advika, and you have to follow this if you want a shelter,"

He finished the sentence, and I immediately felt numb by his sentence. How can a father talk to his daughter like this? If I don't follow his order, he is going to throw me out of this house.

"Okay then, kick me out. I also don't feel like you are my family you never treat me like a family member,"

I fired back without thinking twice. I totally got frustrated with his words. My mind was not working. I was boiling with anger. I said loud enough that Dhriti came down the stairs, taking a quick step.

"Tameez kaha gayi Advika, tumhare pita se baat kar rahi ho,"

"Where are your manners, Advika? You are talking to your father,"

This time my mother shouted with an intense gaze that fixed on my face. I didn't realise when she came from the kitchen that if she had the power to burn someone with her intense gaze, then at this moment, I am that someone.

"Di, what happened?"

Dhriti asked with concern while coming towards me with hurried steps. I pressed my lips together in a thin line.

"Nothing stay here and be quiet; I don't want to hear a single word come out of your mouth you are a child don't poke your nose in this matter we can handle this understand,"

My aunt, her mother, muttered in a slow voice, but enough to listen to everyone who was present here while she held her right arm harshly, making her hiss in pain.

"Maa, but-"

She tried to convince her, but before she could, her mother glared at her furiously. Dhriti looked at me with concern in her eyes, completely disregarding her mother.

I looked at her and nodded as a sign to stay quiet before speaking another word that made her situation worse.

She did not look convinced by my sign, but still, she stopped uttering anything. I moved my gaze from Dhriti to my father, and my emotions completely changed in a second.

"He is not my father he never treats me like a daughter, his own daughter,"

Slap.

My sentence broke in the middle with a harsh slap on my cheeks. Unwanted tears slipped on my cheeks, and I harshly wiped them off.

Moving my gaze to the right side, I came to see my mother with bloodshot eyes and anger oozing out of her eyes. I completely ignored her.

"I didn't lie about this in this so-called family, no one cares about daughters they only need a son. After me, some day you all started dragging Dhriti into your so-called family reputation," I said furiously, anger dripping from my voice.

"But what is your motive behind stopping my college?"

I managed to question him with thinned eyebrows and tried to stop tears that were unknowing from slipping out of my eyes.

"You don't have to know about that," He said it blankly without any expression, like he didn't care about anything.

"What do you mean by this? Don't I have the right to know about that?" I asked, stammering with my words, and he glared at me.

"I said what I have to now go to your room and think about this," He said, placing that newspaper on the side table.

"You did not leave anything for me to think about,"

I muttered in a low voice. Everything feels like it's over. I'm feeling like a lifeless body without my soul.

"Stop making your situation worse, Advika I warned you,"

This time he shouted, looking straight at me. I took a few steps back in fear.

"I want to complete college and then achieve my goals I want to become independent why are you not trying to understand this single thing?"

I begged him, looking at everyone just to ask for help, but no one uttered a single word.

I hoped that anyone would try to take my side, but no one. They behave like heartless people.

"Listen to me, Advika this is the last time, and this is final," Myy father said, pointing his index finger towards me.

"After one week in this family, no one stops you from doing anything you are free you can do anything you want, but after one week," He said, making me curious. I want to know what is going to happen after one week.

"What do you mean after one week? What's going to happen after this one week?" I asked him with curiosity, and he took a deep breath.

"Your wedding,"

As soon as he finished, I moved my gaze from him to my mother, thinking that she supported me, but she ignored me and moved her gaze to my father.

"How can you all do this to me?"

I shouted, my blood boiling with anger oozing out of my voice. A drop of tears slipped from my eyes.

"Don't shout, Advika we are doing this for your better life after getting married they allow you to do what you want,"

This time my uncle said, making me more furious, that they think I am a fool who spent her 22 years with this family, and observing this harsh reality of this family now tells me that an unknown family supports me with my career, who are chosen by them.

"What if they did not?"

Controlling my emotions, I managed to say, hearing everyone get out of their words after five minutes of silence.

"Then, be a perfect daughter-in-law and spend your life according to them like all housewives,"

My mother said this without any hesitation, like an emotionless person. My heart skipped a beat to hear this from my own mother.

I was completely shocked by this statement of hers; as a woman herself, she told me this without any hesitation.

"Are you for real?" I uttered and furrowed my eyebrows in surprise. She looked around, and then her gaze met mine.

"Yes, I know what I'm talking about, and it's better if you accept this as soon as possible. You are not different, and one day you have to get married, give birth, and you are not a child. Advika, you are 22 years old,"

I ignored her completely, because now I believe that there is no sense of humour left in these people they never understand my feelings.

I started talking hurriedly and stepped towards the stairs. I could hear the faded voice of them from the living room, but I ignored them and started moving to my room.

I opened the door with a jerk and moved inside the room. I closed the door with a thud sound behind my back.

I fell in bed, hiding my face in a pillow. I broke down completely and started sobbing.

I thought I'd end my life before destroying it like this, but I can't waste my life for people like them.

But as their thoughts come to my mind, my sobbing sound increases.
