Del was on a lunch date with Nathan as proposed by Jenna. If they can't make time during their lifeguard shifts or have an uninterrupted date night with babies, the best they can do is spend some time on afternoon lunches.
They were in a beautiful place in the city that overlooked Huntington Beach like personalized wallpaper. She was happy having dressed Del in a cute white summer dress, some strappy sandals, and curled her blonde her for a beautiful wavy effect. The efforts were well matched from both sides as Nathan came to pick her up from her house in a light brown linen shirt and loose beige pants.
Sending them off to their lunch date felt like seeing your kids go to their first day of school. It was overwhelmingly nice. She liked them together and felt good that her best friend was finally pursuing a good person after all that drama with her previous boyfriends who only dated her for a random Friday night hook-up and money she legitly poured on them because she's that nice.
Who would've thought that a sicko would use his own mother's illness for money? No one unless they're born with a pile of shit. As feisty and alert as Delilah is now, her younger self was naive and too trusting which landed her in a lot of trouble until she learned not every motherfucker in the world has good intentions.
Jenna went back to the house smiling and made her way to her room. She had a video conference with Richard. He is still in town and having visited her gallery a few days ago, Ricard was both impressed and satisfied by Jenna's work. They had a few more details to discuss, the art pieces that he wanted to sell and the ones that were strictly for display. Cataloging them was a task that needed to finish by today so his team could deliver the itels accordingly to the gallery by tommorow.
The Conference ran for an hour and Jenna's back was sore. She ended the call with the smiling man and stretched her body on the chair. Arms up, legs spread out, she yawned and massaged her neck and shoulders before checking the time.
Two in the noon.
"A late lunch it is," she mumbled and got up.
She was about to head to the kitchen when her feet unconsciously stopped her on the tracks. Turning her head, she noticed the closed doors of David's bedroom and wondered if he was home. He had a client meeting early in the morning but around eleven, right after Del left, she heard the sound of his car again so maybe he's home?
Jenna took a leap of faith and went towards his side of the room. Besides she needed some alone time with him. Her morning conversation in the kitchen was embarrassing. David was there and he heard everything. From Logan, right to her hesitation when Del asked if she was seeing someone.
Now what are you supposed to do in a situation like that? She didn't have a definite answer nor did she want to be creepy and desperate by feeding too much like yes she is committed or some shit because the truth is, she's not.
She and David were a sinking ship. It doesn't matter how much you need it at the time of a storm, in the end, the ship will sink. Their attraction felt good. Lust was the prominent subject but other than that? Nothing.
Jenna was confused and worried. She doesn't know what to do or how to approach David on this topic. Surely they've been very open with their attraction to each other and have verbally exchanged their wants to have more but was there ever a feeling involved?
There wasn't a bit of hesitation on her part to accept she had a crush on David. Not only the physical kind that nags her to kiss him and get the taste of forbiddance but the one where you want to spend every hour, every minute of your time with them. Talk about life and the future. Go on long walks. Sit on the beach at night and stare at the moon kind of like.
