The exhibition was turning out to be a success. Everyone on the guest list had shown up, important people were mingling like old friends, the crowd was rich and satisfied. There was a spark in the night. A fortune that spelled Jenna's name. This was one of her biggest nights and it was turning out exactly how she imagined.
Richard was happy. His collection was welcomed by genuine eyes, people appreciated his art and applauded Jenna for pulling the best scenario to showcase his doings. The event was going well and so were Jenna and David's hidden romance.
After their bathroom fuck, both of them had gotten dressed and went out to greet the guest. Where Jenna went, David followed her. Right from the security room where she doubled the protection and expanded people to the perimeter to the pink carpet where artists, guests, and some local celebrities were clicking pictures and giving interviews.
He never left her side since the start. He welcomed the guests with her, talked with her acquaintances like they were his own employees, and established more connections in one night than someone could in his entire life. Jenna could see how he was present for her while maintaining the professionalism he wore only during the legal battles in court.
People were curious about them. Some even prompted nosy questions like what their relationship was and for every such question, David would give his charming smile, slip his hands down her waist, and say "She's a good part in my life,"
His response always made her blush and so did his naughty innocent touches whenever they were alone. The little grazing of their fingers when they're standing too close or drawing circles down her waist when they're talking to someone, the soft stealing of glances from across the room and her favorite, the twirling of her hair when they're seated next to each other during one of Richard's welcome speech.
The craving they had for each other was palpable. David spared no time to touch her whenever he got the time and Jenna didn't stop him. As the night advanced, people started to take the dance floor. The musicians played live music for everyone and into the third song, David made his way to her.
Excusing Jenna from her colleague Jackie, he walked her to the center of the dance floor and gently slipped his hand on her waist, pulling her close. "Dance with me,"
"We're already dancing,"
"Just making sure you know it,"
Jenna wrapped both her arms around his neck and smiled, "Believe me I know it,"
The music changed to something romantic, something soft. The silver mirrorball glittered the room with sparkles. The floor buzzed with a gentle vibration and more people started to join them.
David held Jenna's hip and slowly swayed it left and right with the tune all while she gripped the back of his hair and relaxed in his arms.
"I didn't know the exhibition would turn like this," she says a minute into their dance,
"Like what?"
"Faultless," her eyes raked the corner of the room and she smiled looking at the content faces of everyone here. "I knew I was right to place the dance floor in the middle of the gallery. The paintings look so beautiful under the light,"
"It sure does," he says a bit hoarsely. Jenna removed her eyes from the sight and looked at him.
"You're talking about something else, aren't you?"
When he didn't answer, Jenna smiled and caressed his hair, "Not to ruin this or anything but I gotta ask,"
David's eyes were solemn. Dreamy but happy. "Go ahead,"
