(Emma's POV)
It's been nearly a week since we saw Cass. Everyone is worried sick. We have looked everywhere for her around the school premises. Dan tries to keep our spirits up, but it doesn't last too long. Tre won't talk to anyone and isolates himself. Armin tried to joke about it and say she is just pranking us, but we all can see the worry etched onto his face. Jessica looks worried and anxious. Jessamine blames herself and believes this is her fault. We tell her she's not to blame for her disappearance, but she won't believe us. Brice, well...he doesn't say anything, but I can see he's worried. 'I wonder if he believes they're friends still.'————————————————————————
We all walk around at the mall across town, trying to loosen the tension.
"I wish Cass was still here; hope she's okay." Dan says sadly.
"I know...we all miss her." I reply back.
"It's my fucking fault she's missing...If I just didn't say anything...she'd be here." Jessamine mumbles. Dan looks at her.
"Jessamine, It's not your fault. I want you to shut up about that. It doesn't make anything better; it doesn't help bring her back." Dan says with tension in his voice.
"I hate this!" Tre shouts. We all look at him in shock. He hasn't said anything for days, to anyone.
"I know Tre...we will find her." I say reassuringly. I can tell...his heart is crushed. I can see the pain in his eyes, the longing feeling of wanting to make her happy and keep her safe. If only she could see that from him.
"Who's that!?" Jessica shouts looking up. We all look up where she's looking and pointing at to see a figure on the roof. We all run towards the building to see who or what it is. 'What kind of psychopath would casually stroll on the fucking roof?'
As we get closer, We can clearly see our psychopath."Cass!" Brice shouts as he runs faster.
"When did he even get here?!" Dan asked as we all stare baffled at Cass' ex bolting forward. After we stood dumbfounded for a second, we all remembered what was happening and gained enough common sense to run toward Cass. We all catch up after him as we stare at the figure. Cass!?
(Cass' POV)
I've been sitting on the roof of the abandoned building for a while. My mind was whirling. My thoughts, memories haunt me. I can tell I'm at my breaking point. I'm going to break. My friends and family probably think I'm already dead, my ex hates me for being broke, my friends think I'm annoying and too much to deal with. I look over the roof of the four-story building. The sun is high in the light blue sky. I sigh as tears fall down. 'I don't want to bring them down anymore.' I began to stand. I came to this conclusion after realizing nobody dared to attempt to find me or save me."Cass!" I hear the wind echo my name. I walk towards the edge and look at the sky.
"It's about time I go home." I whisper to myself; into the wind.
(Emma's POV)
We see Cass on the roof. 'What does she think she's doing?!' We shout her name, but she doesn't hear us. 'What is she doing?!' She's just standing there. I see the bruises, scratches and blood on her."She's been hurt. What happened this week?" I half whispered.
"Cass!" Tre shouts. We all look up as she turns her back to us.
As we watch, panic builds up inside us. She leans towards up and begins to fall off the ledge of the building."Cass!!" Jessica shouts her lungs out in terror, running towards her falling body. I see her eyes closed as I run to catch her. Brice runs after us as the others follow in shock and fear.
(Cass' POV)
I hear screaming as I fall. I thought this place was 'abandoned' on the weekdays. Their voices sound familiar... but I keep my eyes closed. I don't wanna see what I've done. I can't be saved now anyway. I embrace myself to hit the harsh concrete, but am greeted with something different; unexpected. My shoulder stings from the force on my arm and shoots pain to my skull. I let out a pained cry as my mind fades to nothing. I'm nothing. I can't open my eyes, can't hear, can't speak. 'Is this death?'(Emma's POV)
Brice catches Cass as she falls. We all run towards them. "Cass!?" Jessica shouts as she begins to cry."Don't you quit in me!" Dan shouts enraged. I place my hand on her wrist. I felt relieved as I felt her pulse.
"She's still breathing. We need to take her to the hospital. Now." I say with panic. We all quickly get into our Uber and bolt towards the medical center. 'Who knee Uber would be chill with us carrying an unconscious girl in the car without questions.' Brice runs next to me with Cass in his arms. She looks small, but I still asked "Do you need help?" He looks at me.
"I got her." He looks hurt; heartbroken. I sigh.
"Are you sure?" I ask again. There a small silence.
"I'm sure." He says as I get into the car with Brice and Cass.
