I was walking into the small church with my parents. As we walked up the steps I just stopped. They continued a few steps and then noticed I wasn't with them. They stopped and looked at me.

"June?" My mother asked.

"I can't do this...I can't be here..." I said taking a few steps backwards away from the steps.

"Come on, Jimmy's Mama asked for you to come. You haven't been around in a few years." my dad said.

The Dobynes and my family The Wallace's were friends their whole lives. Jimmy Dobyne and I were in the same grade growing up and were best of friends until high school. Freshman year of high school we find out we had feelings for each other and dated until we were 19.

I went away to college, not that I wanted to and Jimmy stayed behind to go to a hometown college so he could quickly advance in his father's company once he graduated. It wasn't just that, our parents thought we would do good being apart for a while and plan a future. If our lives intersected it would be meant to be.

Unfortunately, our lives never intersected again...

"I know but I don't think I can..." I said as my mom, Hazel said, and I just looked up at the small-town church. "Dad please don't make me..." I whispered as tears filled my eyes and my dad, Glen came walking over to me.

"Come on Junie, you said you could do this and wanted to give him your blessing yourself." Glen said.

"That's when I thought I could. Can I please sit in the car for a few moments? I will join you in a minute." I said. Glen looked at Hazel and they nodded. I walked back to the car and sat in the backseat...I needed to calm down.

I saw a notebook and pen on the backseat. This would be the only way to give him my blessing, to write it out. I needed to do this.

I walked into the church and saw people getting seated but then I saw his mom and dad standing at the door greeting people.

"June Wallace! You're here!" Sadie Dobyne said and wrapped me in a hug.

"June, it's so great to see you." Sterling Dobyne said.

"Mr. And Mrs. Dobyne." I said and they looked at me confused as we all hugged.

"So formal." Sterling said and we all gave a small chuckle.

"Well, it has been sometime and I'm not with Jimmy anymore so I don't think calling you Ma and Pa Dobyne would go over well." I said and they sighed.

"We only did what we thought was needed June." Sadie said and I just held up a hand and gave a slight shake of my head.

"No, it's okay. He's getting married and is happy. I'm happy for him. I was actually just wondering if I could go see if him a minute?" I asked and Sadie nodded.
