DISCLAIMER: This is in the process of being made into a full story. I hope you all enjoy this little sneak peak!

I was sitting at the hotel bar, it had been a tough day. Sammy getting bucked too soon from his bull and then pinned to the ground by the bull he was low in standings and I didn't know what we were going to do.

The ranch counted on his win money from competitions to run and with his being so low now and being injured I didn't know what else we could do.

I took a swig of the beer I was drinking when someone sat beside me.

"I'll have what she is having and get her another." The voice said and I rolled my eyes. Although at this point who was I to turn down a free beer.

"I'm not the president of your fan club Ari. He is upstairs sleeping." I said. Denny, my son, was Ari's number one fan, besides loving his Uncle Sammy of course.

"I came you see you Glory. I wanted to check on you." Ari said and I groaned.

"Wanted to make sure your top rank was still secure?" I snipped.

"Damnit Glory can you just stop for a damn minute. I'm trying to show you I care about Sammy, you and your family! I don't want to see a ranch go down because farm money can't be made." Ari said. I just sighed and hung my head.

"Please don't act like you care Ari. I know you guys could use the money too and honestly if it was going to be anyone to take Sammy's spot..." I trailed off.

"Don't talk like that Glory. You guys can pull out of this I'm sure Sammy is fine." Ari said placed a hand over mine on the bar.

"He's in the hospital Ari. Broken ribs, dislocated shoulder and a mild concussion. He can't ride Ari, at all." I said. I turned to look at him. He sighed and I felt his grip on my hand tighten slightly. I looked at our hands together and I couldn't help how good it felt and how good we looked connected there. Our hands just seem to fit together.

Ari was the one guy in the rodeo circuit who I always had that crush on but after I was screwed over by Dennys father I would never trust another rodeo rider. They liked the buckle bunnies, the girls who went after the cowboys and rodeo riders, and that was it. I wouldn't be a buckle bunny.

"I have a plan...it's not something I was wanting to do but I don't have a choice. I have to try and make us the money..." I said. Ari just watched me.

"Glory, are you barrel racing?!" Ari asked shocked.

"Yeah, tomorrow I'm trying to get into qualifying." I said.

"You haven't raced in -..."

"A long time." I finished his sentence.

"And you're here drinking?!"

"What else is there to do?!"

"Sleep, practice, get in a good headspace..." Ari listed.

"Yeah well, the beer is helping the headspace...can't practice this late at night and I can't sleep so..." I trailed off and Ari groaned. He threw money down on the bar, grabbed my hand and pulled me off the stool I was on. "What the hell Ari?!" I freaked as he pulled me out of the hotel and we walked to the parking lot.

"We are going to practice."

"The ring is closed! How the hell do you expect me to train?" I asked.

"Get in the truck and I'll make a call." Ari said opening the passenger side door of his truck. I just looked at him and crossed my arms.

"Ari..."

"Get in the truck Glory, don't argue." Ari said and I just groaned getting in. I saw him then on the phone. Soon he was getting in his truck and smiling.

"What?" I asked.

"Let's go practice." Ari said and drove to the land the rodeo was being held on.

We got inside, I saw barrels set up, the lights on and someone ready to run the time clock. I sighed and walked over to where my horse was in the stall. I wasn't even going to bring her but last decision choice.

I saddled her up and then went to her face and started stroking her nose. She was a grey horse and had two tones mane and tail that was black and grey and also had black spot on her back and hind quarters.

"As usual Luna, it's coming up to me and you go save the day." I said and she shook her head huffing at me practically answering. "I know it's been awhile but we got this. We can do it." I said as I stroked her nose.

"You two ready?" Ari asked coming in the stall. I took a deep breath and nodded.

"Let's go." I said getting Luna from the stall and we walked down to the gate I would start at and I mounted the horse.

"Just practice, don't try too hard." Ari said. I looked down at Ari.

"Are you coaching me now Levinson?" I smirked.

"I'll be whatever you need me to be." Ari winked and I shook my head even though my cheeks blushed. "Alright Glory, focus." Ari said sternly but I tuned him out.

I relaxed and got ready.

I looked up through hooded eyes and the buzzer went off.

"Go!" I yelled kicked Luna in her sides to make her run.
