Tallulla walked into Ted and Beard's office the next morning to see Ted tying his shoes and Beard getting ready for the day. "I'm sorry, did I walk in on something?"
"No, no, Bambi, you're fine. Beard was just telling me how he slept here last night." Ted continued to tie the knot.
"Why did you sleep here last night, I mean no judgment, I've done it before, but like why?"
"Jane and I got in a fight last night, and she threw my keys in the river," Beard explained, "Why have you slept here before?"
"Well, I don't have a car, do I? So sometimes I work late on photos, can't go home because it's 3 o'clock in the morning and just stay here. Also, can we circle back to the fact that your girlfriend threw your keys in the river?"
"Hey, you two are like Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, you know? Or, uh, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow. Or Frank and... Actually, you know what? I'm starting to realize that Ol' Blue Eyes might've skewed mercurial." Ted trailed off, "Hey, what time is it?"
"9:20." Tallulla answered.
Ted clapped his hands together excitedly, before rushing out the door. "How have things been with you, Beard?" Tallulla sat down at Ted's desk, doing a full spin in the chair before meeting the other man's eye.
"Well, I am currently dating Jane, who is on par to a human spider. Tangling over and over in her web of lover and pain." The man looked past her in a daze.
"That's fun." She spoke sarcastically, "Well, if you ever need me, I will be in the locker room till the boys start coming in. Then I'm gonna grab some coffee, I think, do you want any when I go out?"
"No, I'm good thanks, kid." She grabbed her bag as she silently noticed him looking at her office door. She shook her head, 'Not yet.' She thought, 'Not right now.' When she walked out into the locker room, she was hit by a strong flower smell.
"Mmm, is that lavender?" She took a big inhale in.
The new kitman smiled and nodded, "Yeah, my girlfriend loves lavender, she finds it very calming."
"I like it too, you can tell her that I find it very calming as well." She beamed as she sat down on the bench. She looked up at the name that was above her. Macadoo. Suddenly a wave of sadness washed over her; it used to say Kent. She realized that the last time she had talked to the older man had been the night of her leaving.
She missed her Uncle Roy. The red head got up then to find the closest person she could have to her Uncle Roy.
"Hey babes!" Keeley gleamed, getting up from her desk and giving the ginger a big hug. Tallulla chuckled a bit at her greeting but hugged her back. "Hey Keeley."
"What are you doing here, not that I don't love that you're here." The blonde chuckled as she sat back down at her desk, Tallulla taking a seat across from her.
"Well, I was wondering if I could ask how Roy is doing... It's just been a while since I've seen him and... I don't know..." She trailed off, twisting the ring on her finger.
Keeley's face turned sweet but with slight pity in her eyes as she looked at the ginger. The blonde knew that her boyfriend greatly missed the small girl in front of her now, but the older man thought that the ginger didn't want to see him. Tallulla had been gone for so long for no apparent reason. She hadn't texted anyone, hadn't said anything to anyone.
"He misses you," Keeley told her. Tallulla's face morphed into one of surprise.
"Really?"
"Of course, he really misses you Tallulla, but he thinks you don't want to see him."
"What why? Why wouldn't I want to see him?" Tallulla instantly objected.
Keeley sighed, "I really don't like making you upset," The woman slightly pouted, "But Tallulla you went away for a while babes and as big and tough as Roy is, he felt like he failed you in some way..."
"But he didn't..."
"I know Tu. How about you come over tonight, I'll give you a ride, and you can have dinner with us." Keeley suggested.
Tallulla thought for a moment to make sure she wasn't doing anything for dinner, "Yeah, that would be good. All I have to do is text Davis that I'm coming home late." She moved to get up from her seat before Keeley grabbed her hand and pulled her back down.
"Who's Davis?" Keeley instantly questioned.
"Oh umm," Her face instantly flared up in a bright scarlet, "Davis is my boyfriend..."
"What?!" Keeley's high-pitched voice shouted, "Does anyone else know you're dating someone?"
"Shhh!" Tallulla tried to quiet the girl, "No, no one else does!"
"Oh, come on why not, does he treat you right, cause I swear if he tries to pull anything I'll get Roy—"
"He is amazing Keeley," She cut off the older woman, "He makes me happy and he makes me feel like a better person."
"Well, come off it how'd you meet?"
Tallulla explained to her the bar story before a question suddenly arose to Keeley, "Wait, you're in a band?"
"Well, I used to be; we were pretty popular in Ireland but I don't think anyone else really knows anything about the band." Tallulla chuckled.
"Well, you know if you ever wanted to do some more stuff with the band, I could always do some little branding things for them, get you some gigs in local pubs and stuff."
"I couldn't ask you to do that Keeley; I don't want to put anything extra on your plate."
"Nonsense Tallulla, I would love to." Keeley dismissed.
"Well then I'll reach out to Joe, see if he wants to do any more gigs in London." Tallulla suggested getting up to leave for the second time. "Thank you Keeley, I'm looking forward to dinner tonight."
As Tallulla walked out of the locker room, she couldn't shake off the nostalgia that engulfed her. The familiar scents and sounds resonated with the past, reminding her of the times when her last name on the locker was still "Kent." It was like stepping into a time capsule, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge of both happiness and sorrow.
Keeley's suggestion to have dinner with Roy brought a mix of emotions. The prospect of reuniting with someone who played a significant role in her life excited her, yet the unspoken tension weighed on her mind. She wondered if Roy truly understood her reasons for leaving and if their relationship could withstand the unspoken complexities.
Leaving the office, Tallulla took a moment to absorb the atmosphere. The echoes of laughter and banter intertwined with the aroma of freshly cut grass from the field outside. As she ventured into the day, uncertainties lingered, but a newfound determination propelled her forward.
The upcoming dinner with Roy and Keeley added a layer of anticipation to her day, making her reflect on the intricacies of relationships and the passage of time. The journey back to her roots was both a reunion and a rediscovery, a delicate dance between the past and the present.
Blu Speaks!
This chapter was short, and I'm sorry abt it. Better things are yet to come.
