Ambrosius POV:

"Ohhhh Bal!" I sang as I ran towards my boyfriend. He was eating a sandwich, and I threw my arms around his neck. I think I surprised him because he started coughing a little. I patted his back until he stopped coughing and asked him, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Bal replied while hitting his chest. "I just didn't expect you to sneak up on me like that." he said.

I pulled up a chair next to him, and he slid a tray in front of me. "We have training later, so you need to eat." Bal said. I grinned and kissed his cheek. The cafeteria was buzzing with chatter and laughter until I heard a groan.

"Oh, no. Not again." Bal muttered. We both knew that voice way too well. Todd; was as annoying as the day I met him.

"Let me guess? You got stood up again, bro?" Chad asked Todd. Bal and I barely held in a small snicker. "Yeah! I don't understand!? Who wouldn't wanna marry me? Me! I'm a freaking Sureblade! Anyone should be grateful that I'm willing to meet them! It's bad enough there's no Omega's in the kingdom!" Todd ranted.

I just rolled my eyes at his rant. Honestly, anyone who meets him should run as fast as they can!

"Why is he being so picky? Everyone knows Omegas are incredibly rare. Alphas and Betas are the most common in the kingdom, and any Omega alive right now already has a mate." I said to Bal.

He hummed in agreement, but I could tell he wasn't paying attention. I decided to mess with him and poked his side. "Hey, stop! You know I'm ticklish!" Bal said, holding his side.

I chuckled while poking at him with both my fingers, making him wiggle away from me. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my foot. "Ow!" I yelled. I heard Bal chuckle a little before getting up.

He grabbed my tray, which was already empty, and took it to the trash. I walked over to him while he was putting the tray away. I hugged him from behind and put my head on his shoulder.

"People are staring, Rose." Bal said, putting his hand on my arm. "Don't care." I said to him.

We've been together for two years now. People know we're together. "Booooo!" I heard. Todd was booing at us with his friends while everyone just ignored them.

I felt Bal's breath hitch and knew he was upset. "Come on, let's get out of here." I said before taking his gloved hand. I took him to the roof of the training area and sat down on the edge. I patted the space next to me, making him sit down.

I pulled him closer to my lap while kissing his forehead. "Can't believe we're gonna be knights in less than a year." I said. Bal smiled at the thought.

I'm honestly really proud of him. He's been through so much, but he still tries to be a knight and make a difference.

I heard the bell ring and knew we had to get to class. "Come on, let's go." Bal said, getting up before holding his hand out. I could see the sun shining behind him, making him look like an actual angel.

That's the moment I decided to marry Bal.

Later that day:

"I'm home!" I yelled, shutting the door behind me. I put my shoes next to the entrance before looking around. The place was surprisingly silent, and no one came to greet me. Not even the staff, for some reason. "Ambrosius." I heard. I looked over to see my Mom standing in front of me, the living room entrance.

"Hey Mom, what's going on?" I asked. Suddenly, my dad walked in behind Mom, and he looked like he'd seen a ghost. "Dad? Are you okay?" I asked before putting my school bag down.

"Ambrosius, come sit down." Mom said, motioning me to the living room couch. I was really confused because I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything bad... As far as they know.

I sat down on the couch while my parents sat down across from me. My dad ran a hand through his hair while my Mom held his other hand.

"What's going on? Am I in trouble?" I asked. "Ambrosius, do you remember your grandfather?" Mom asked.

My grandfather? I've never met him. He was known for being a drunk, a gambler, a racist, and a homophobic. When my dad introduced Mom to him, he went crazy and said that if they got married, he'd disown him.

Dad married Mom, and Grandpa did disown him, but no one took him seriously, so technically he got disowned from the Gloreth lineage. The last time anyone heard of him, he was living in a cabin somewhere in the forest. "I guess? I never met him, so I don't have any memory of him." I said.

"Well, he passed away last night from a heart attack." Dad said, twiddling his thumbs. My dad was never close with Grandpa, but that was still his Dad who passed away.

"Oh, Dad, I'm so sorry." I said. "It's okay. It's for the best anyway." Dad said. Mom held his hand while rubbing his back.

"Anyway! We're supposed to go to his place and see if there's anything valuable to take with us. Like family heirlooms or documents. Do you want to come with us? You might find something you want to keep." Dad stated.

"Sure, I'll go!" I said.

That same weekend:

"Wow, this place is dusty!" I said, stepping inside. I knew my grandpa was a lonely man, but you'd think he'd have housekeeping.

I started looking around in the living room and found some photos of my Dad when he was younger, but his face was cut out of all the photos. I guess he was bitter about it to the end.

Suddenly I heard a growl from behind me and I saw Dad clutching a piece of paper in his hand. "Dad? You okay?" I asked.

"We're going home." Dad stated. "Why? We haven't even been here for 5 minutes." I said. "Just get in the car, son." Dad said.

I got in the car but could see my parents reading the paper Dad found. They looked really upset for some reason.

A few weeks later:

"Ambrosius, we need to talk." Dad said in a serious voice. "Okay, what is it?" I asked.

"Ambrosius... You're getting married soon." Dad said.
