twenty nine

matt sat next to me in the courthouse. he was allowed to come to my court case but he had to be supervised at all times but as long as he was with my i was okay.

this is the day i've been waiting for. the jury is deciding if mr. davis is innocent or guilty. my hands started sweating as the jury made its way back into the room. i felt my breathing get heavier.

"breathe baby girl, you're okay" matt whispered in my ear

matt sat on one side of me and my mom on the other. each of them holding one of my hands. matt gave my hand a little squeeze.

"jury, have you come to your decision?" the judge asked

a middle aged woman in the jury stood up.

"yes your honor. we, the jury, find mr. joesph davis guilty of kidnapping and physical abuse of hannah scott."

"how long are you sentencing him for?"

"30 years, your honor"

they put handcuffs on mr. davis and walked him out of the court. i started to cry. i was overwhelmed with joy. i stood up next to matt and he wrapped his arms around me.

"i told you everything was gonna be fine" he smiled connecting his lips to mine

"but it still isn't fine because you're still stuck here."

"don't worry about that right now. i have a few minutes with you and i want to spend them with you."

everyone slowly cleared out of the courthouse. my parents said they would wait for me outside they wanted to give me and matt a few minutes of alone time even though there was an officer in the room.

"you got 5 minutes kid" the cop told matt

"i'll see you at your trial, i guess."

"yeah" matt replied "listen hannah, i need to talk to you about something."

we both sat down and matt grabbed my hands.

"i don't even know how to say this. i know that i could possibly be going away for awhile but i need you to know how i feel."

"just tell me" i gave him a reassuring smile

"han, i'm just i'm so in love with you. i love you so much and i just really need you to know that."

"i love you too."

he brushed a strand of hair out of my face and stared into my eyes. i slowly leaned into him connecting our lips. he pulled away and cupped my face.

"whatever happens next week just know how i feel. know that i love you, you hear me?"

"okay"

"i gotta go but i'll see you soon baby"

"i love you matt"

"i love you too"
