"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"
An older Sokka grins. He leans back, propped up on his arms, as he stares at the clear blue sky. The grass underneath him rustles as he pivots to look at Polu. "You could stand to mention it more."
Before he moves, Polu admires the bit of stubble on Sokka's face. The brown hair serves to make the man look older than he really must've been, and the earthbender feels a blush forming on his cheeks.
The pair lean forward and share a brief kiss, their lips meeting messily amidst their wide smiles. They giggle against each other causing their breath to tickle their skin.
"I'll love you til the end of time," Polu hums.
"You will, huh?" Sokka teases. He shifts to look back at the clouds overhead. "That's a long time. I guess we'll have to see."
The Earth King nudges his husband. "What about you, mister?"
Sokka lowers himself to the ground and turns his head to look at Polu. "Oh, I thought it was obvious how much I love you." An adoring grin paints itself across his lips. "You light up my world every time I see you."
Polu huffs and presses another gentle kiss to Sokka's lips. "I think you turned this into a competition of who loves whom more."
"Am I winning?" Sokka's voice deepens as he stares up at his husband.
"I'll always love you more," Polu whispers.
Without any warning, he jumps to a stand, a childish smile on his face. Sokka is quick to follow. The latter starts chasing his lover around the field, both of them giggling like schoolchildren.
The ground begins to shake. Polu freezes where he stands and frantically looks around for the source. Vibrations alert the king to some kind of massive animal nearby, but the grassy field sprawling out in front of him is empty.
"Sok, do you see-" When Polu turns to ask his husband a question, he finds that Sokka is nowhere to be found. "Sokka? Sokka?! Sokka where did you go?!"
The earthbender's attention is shifted from finding the source of the rumbling to searching for his missing husband. "Sokka? Sokka where-"
Polu is woken by a loud thud on the ground next to him. "What the fuck is going on?!" His eyes open to find a big blurry figure in front of him.
"Give up." A voice booms. "You're completely surrounded."
"Did that damn rhino just talk?" Polu groans. He whips his head side-to-side in an attempt to properly wake up.
The voice sputters, his angry demeanor audibly thrown off by the insult. "I'm a human, you imbecile!"
The prince shrugs and rubs his eyes. "Hey, I'm not the one that sounds like a Komodo rhino, guy. I would save the insults for the mirror."
"Enough of this!" The now not-blurry man screeches.
A few feet away, Sokka shrieks as flaming arrows are shot at him.
Polu groans. He grabs his satchel and bends himself up to Appa's saddle. Simultaneously, he throws a chunk of rock at the man he'd been talking to.
"Come on, come on!" Aang yelps.
Katara pauses in her tracks. "My scrolls!"
From atop Appa's head, Aang's eyes bulge. "My staff!"
Katara freezes the sword of the man in front of her. Before he can react, she grabs the box of waterbending scrolls and dashes back to Appa.
