Later that evening, after I had fulfilled reading urges, I closed and locked the door behind me while humming a cheerful tune. The Wright's have turned in early. It was dark outside and there was an eerie sort of vibe in the night. The sky was clear without a patch of cloud, however, it was too quiet. Extremely quiet. I began my walk back home, cautiously keeping an eye out. Suddenly, a sound to the upper left of me caught my attention. Then a shadow flew pass me going towards the sound. Being the curious person that I know I am, I tentatively went towards the sound of the commotion. There, I saw a bunch of tall, huge, ugly white beasts, some with wolves running pass, down that ally. I started to inch backwards, trying to remain unseen, however, I tripped over a metal bucket behind me causing the two beasts to turn on me.

Oh shit, I'm going to die. I thought as I disregarded stealth and ran backwards. Footsteps were gaining on me so I opted to pick up anything that could act as a weapon. It turned out to be the shovel the Guards left on the sides of their sites. Well at least I'll die with a weapon in hand. I deadpanned. With my battle stance ready, I ducked the first swing made by the larger of my two pursuers, and slammed the shovel with all my might against the back of its knees. The thing crumpled to the ground while the other one raised it's club right on top of me. As it fell upon me, I rolled away, making it closer to the river rather than the edge of the houses. Seeing a loop-hole as the fallen one lunged at me from his lowered position, I mustered all my strength and aimed the shovel with the sharpest edge towards its neck like a blade and slashed. I felt the resistance that vibrated through the handle as the shovel cut in its flesh. Had it not been the adrenaline pumping through me at the current moment, I would have been vomiting. Seeing its companion roll on the ground grasping its slain neck, the other one ran to me in rage while omitting a terrible battle cry that sent shivers down my spine. It hacked and swung at me with its club in all directions while I tried with much difficulty to avoid and perry them. There were a lot of close calls. One time when I ducked and stepped back, I nearly fell behind me into the deep, icy cold lake water. I managed to steady myself at the end but it drove my attention away from my aggressor.

This is how it ends. I thought dramatically. Then an arrow shot straight between the eyes or the beast and it fell limply right before my eyes. I turned my head and saw a tall elf on the bridge. He continued to shoot arrow after arrow at the oncoming enemy. I just stared. The moonlight reflected off of his smooth blonde hair. He is truly the most beautiful creature I have ever beheld. When the onslaught of beasts seemed to dull. He hopped of the bridge gracefully, sidestepping the fallen bodies and came before me. I had to really look up to see his face. And when I did manage to get his face in focus, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by his penetrating blue eyes. I think at one point he was talking to me, I heard faintly, "Young one, you did a good job fighting....." and then "You're so beautiful." slipped right off my tongue.

A chuckle brought me out of my trance and I shook myself out of it. "Thank you, my lady." he said with a cheeky smile. I blushed furiously. In an attempt to change the topic, i said, "What were those beasts?"

"Those are orcs, the nasty kind of orcs. You should not be out so late, young one." he said.

"Orcs? Why are they here in Lake Town?"

"Dark times are ahead of us," he knelt down such that we were at the same height, "fear not little one" He reached behind his back and detached one of his daggers. He gently placed it in the palm of my hand and said, "I know that you will use this well and protect those that are important to you." I nodded vigorously. "Now, go home back to your parents. I still have a lot of orcs to take care of."

As he began to move away, "Will I ever see you again sir?"

"IN due time, we will see each other again. My name is Legolas. Now go no then." He said.

I kept looking back where he had gone on my way home, but he was gone in just mere seconds. I then turned my attention to the dagger with the elegant sheath. I unsheathed the dagger and the sharp blade shone against the pale moonlight and elvish inscriptions marked the edges. It read silme which meant starlight. The hilt was sleek and well polished with a small engravings of a leaf at the end.

I took the dagger in hand and made my way back to the my home. There I saw a mess of furniture and orc bodies all around. Most of the dwarfs were gone leaving only Kíli, Fíli, Dori and Óin. Kili looked much better than before but still slightly unconscious and a new addition stood right next to his bedside. Mother came over and hugged me. Mothering me with questions about whether I was hurt. I pushed her away and inspected her and my siblings for injuries but they reassured me that the she-elf had rescued them.

The elf had thigh-long red hair that flowed like waterfall and was also an exquisite beauty. She looked over at the mention of her name and nodded her head towards me. Her name is Tauriel.

She said, "Everyone must rest for we do not know what tomorrow will bring us. "
