Authors note: please give me comments and reviews, I have this story also posted on fanfiction.net but I have no reception of how I'm doing. Lot's of love is appreciated.
Father and I found Gandulf and King Thranduil at a standoff in a path littered with fallen warriors. "What's happened?" Father inquired, stepping up to them. "Legolas tells me that the enemy has a second wave coming from the north, the forces gather from the direction of Ravenhill where Azog is." Gandulf brandished his staff at the northwest mountains where you could make out a makeshift tower on the edge of the mountain mostly hidden by a heavy vast of fog. "And Lord Thranduil here refuses to dispatch his forces to assist in defending this place."
At the mention of Legolas, I abruptly turned my head to peer around my father and saw the handsome elf that saved me in Lake Town standing behind the King.
"There is a deep, frozen river between the paths from Bolg to Ravenhill. If we can stop them somehow, we will be able to delay, even prevent the attack from the North." Legolas said.
"I will not send my people to be slaughter, what is the life of the dwarfs to my people? I owe them nothing." Thranduil said turning around and away. But Tauriel is in the way, "You will go no further. You will not turn away, not this time."
"Get out of my way." Spats Thranduil.
"The dwarfs will be slaughtered."
"Yes, they will die." He said coldly, "Today, tomorrow, one year hence, a hundred years from now. What does it matter?" He advanced upon Tauriel. "They are mortal."
And Tauriel draws her bow aiming it at the face of her king, "You think your life is worth more than theirs. When there's no love in it, there is no love in you."
This enraged the king and he slashed and broked her bow and held the sword at her throat, "What do you know of love? Nothing. What you feel for that dwarf, is not real. You think that it is love? Are you ready to die for it?"
Then Thranduil's sword was deflected by Legolas, "if you harm her, you will have to kill me." He starred hard into Thranduil's eyes. And then he turned to Tauriel, "I will go with you."
There is definitely some feelings content between the two, I thought. I stepped infront of my father and he hissed, "what are you doing?" I ignored him.
I stepped up and all eyes fell on me, "Lord Thranduil, I proposed another way. I understand your position to protect your people and that you have no responsibility to the dwarfs, so I proposed to all of you," I turned in a circle to Gandulf and Bilbo, to Legolas and Tauriel and my father. "I have a way to bring down the tower the leader of the Orc stands on and cut of the road between the next wave."
I stared into my father's eyes and in an instance, I knew that he figured out what I was thinking. "No, no, I forbid it." He said.
"Everyone has to make sacrifices in war. I have to do it, for the people of Lake Town, for mother, for Bain and for Tilda, father.""What is she talking about, Bow-man?" demanded Gandulf.
"I can, to a certain degree, control the weather. I can dispel the mist that prevents us from seeing the oncoming enemy and summon thunder and lightning to bring down that tower and break the iced river."
"That could work." Said Bilbo, "what are you waiting for, do your thing and summon your lightning!"
I looked a little sheepish, "But, I have to be in range of the target."
"Which is why you are not doing it." Said father resolutely.
I deliberately ignored him, "I will need help getting to the orcs."
Tauriel jumped right in and said, "I will get you there."
Legolas followed and said, "As will I."
My father was still on the side objecting that I should go, "She's only 14 years old. I could go instead of her..."
Gandulf said, "She is the only option and most suitable candidate to complete this task. Plus I believe in Legolas's and Tauriel's abilities to protect her. You must also trust in her abilities."
"Let's go now."
