Jason held up an ice pack to his jawline. He also received a black eye, indicating they had hit him while he was unconscious.
The nurse walked out of her office.
"Oh, you're still here?" she asked, clearly not concerned.

"It's just a bruise," Nurse Petunia shone a light into Jason's eye. "You'll live. Now go back to class before fifth period ends. Keep the ice pack."
Jason walked out of the nurse's office and headed back to class. As he walked out, he caught a glimpse of Rennard being interrogated in the main office by the principal. A Crimestopper stood outside of the door, guarding it.
Mr. Sien smiled at Jason when he walked into the room. "You okay?"
"I'm okay," said Jason.
"Please take a seat," said Mr. Sien, "There's something I need to discuss with the class."
Jason sat down. Allegra shot a glance in his direction. However, he didn't quite catch the expression behind it.
Mr. Sien projected the syllabus onto the board.
"Today is the first time in six years I've had to call Crimstoppers on a student. I usually don't like talking about all this serious stuff, but I'll give a reminder."
The lights shut off.
"There is no violence outside of Bloodshed. Rennard could be facing serious consequences, even expulsion."
Any whispers still audible at that point fell silent. Jason looked at Rennard's empty desk.
"Let me repeat. No violence outside of Bloodshed. For everyone's sakes, please."
The lights turned back on.
"Thank you!" Mr. Sien, relieved that ordeal was over, scooted over to his desk and handed out a worksheet.
"This is due tomorrow," said Mr. Sien, "A review over what you all should know in Algebra."
Someone raised their hand.
"Yes?"
"This is all new to us," said the student. "We've never seen this before."
Mr. Sien scratched his head. "Not sure what to tell ya. The school sent me the worksheet, and I'm just handing it out. If you need to, work on it in groups. I don't mind some collaboration."
After he passed out the worksheets, Mr. Sien teleported back home.
The students split into their friend groups, leaving Jason on his own. Even in groups, the class still had trouble on the worksheet. It would be a whole thirty minutes before a group finished question one.
Jason finished the worksheet in ten.
When the seventh bell rang, the Crimestoppers barged through the door once again.
Rennard walked around them and back to his seat.
The Crimestoppers walked up to one of Rennard's goons' desk.
"Mason Vinehopper?" asked one of the Crimestoppers.
"Y-Yeah?" stuttered Mason.
"We come to inform you that an expulsion has been issued against you for violence outside of Bloodshed."
The class fell silent once again.
"Wait, but it wasn't me! I promise!" Mason turned to look at Rennard. "Tell them, Rennard!"
"I tried to stop Mason," said Rennard, "However he kept on beating poor Jason over here to a pulp. He used his insulated waterbottle to knock him out, then tied him to the desk!"
"Now hold on a minute-!" Allegra stood to speak, but a murderous glare from Rennard sat her back down.
"I don't even bring a waterbottle! He's lying!" said Mason, now furious at Rennard.
"Oh? Then what's that under your desk?" Rennard pointed at Mason's feet, where a blue metal bottle labeled "MASON" with a dent in the side laid.

Mason's hands trembled. "Wait... but that's not mine..."
"Oh...? Says your name, doesn't it?"
"The proof obviously points to you," said one of the Crimestoppers. "Is there anything else you would like to add, Mason?"
Mason's eyes welled up with tears. "No," his voice cracked, "there isn't."
"Very well, then."
The Crimestopper pulled out a pistol and shot Mason in the forehead.
