Jason pondered the question. Or perhaps, he fished in his mind for a fake answer.
"I want to avoid violence in the world," he said.
"Is that so?" asked Allegra. "Alright then," she said.
Jason suspected she was still skeptical of him. He changed the subject.
"So... you got a boyfriend?" Jason asked a little too abruptly.
Allegra turned slightly red.
"N-No..." she stuttered a bit, taken aback by the sudden question. "Why do you ask?"
I hate the silence... thought Jason.
Also, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who can't find love in a world like this...

"Jason," called out his mother. "I made you pancakes!"
She showed him a plate with three buttermilk pancakes stacked on top of each other.
"Mommy!!" Jason frowned at her. "Remember what I told you about my pancakes?!"
"Oh, sorry sweetheart," She got up and added whipped cream and a single strawberry on top.
"Yaaay!!! Thank you mommy!" Jason smiled.
Jason's father peered around the corner, worried sick.
(7 months later)
"Mom?! MOM?!"
Jason's mother laid face down on the ground,
unresponsive."PLEASE WAKE UP! I'M BEGGING YOU, PLEASE! YOU'RE JUST SLEEPING, RIGHT? PLEASE WA-
"Jason?"

Allegra looked at him, slightly concerned.
"You okay?" she asked.
Jason felt his eyes sting under the bright cafe lights. He blinked rapidly, then rubbed his eyes quickly.
"I'm okay!" he said with a smile. "I just..."
She looked at him, slightly worried still.
"Really... want..."
She looked deep into his eyes.
"...pancakes."
Her worried look was quickly relieved. She giggled.
"What's the deal with you and pancakes?" she asked.
"Nothing," he said. "Just really like them, that's all."
