Jason ran the other way, still holding Allegra at the wrist.

"What are you doing?!" Allegra shouted, confused.

"Just follow me!" yelled Jason.

Jason heard running footsteps fairly far away behind him. He thought of an idea.

He ran to the elevator door and sent it going up to the top floor. Then, he ran and turned the corner with Allegra just as Klein arrived at the closing elevator, and noticed it going up.

"Shit," Klein muttered, and he ran up the stairs.

"Close one," said Jason. When the coast became clear, he ran down the stairs with Allegra.

"Hey!" said Allegra, "You still have to explain what's going on!"

"Give me a second!" yelled Jason.

They arrived at the courtyard, where Jason sat under a tree in the dark.

"Why did we run away?" asked Allegra. "We'll miss the party!"

"There wasn't one," said Jason. "Klein was going to hurt you."

"How do you know that?!" Allegra had the slightest edge of anger in her voice. Jason noticed.

"I saw a rope and gloves in his pocket."

Allegra's eyes widened.

"Then, why are they in your pocket?"

Jason looked down at his pocket. Klein had shoved the rope and gloves into Jason's pocket. Jason had felt the shift in weight earlier, however didn't think much of it.

"How do I know you're not the one trying to hurt me?" asked Allegra, glaring.

Allegra's feet shifted the other direction, back to the boys' dorms.

"Well," she said, "I'm going back, because now I know who was really out to get me the whole time."

Allegra turned around.

Jason bolted up to Allegra, and hit her Vagas nerve. She fell to the ground, knocked out. Jason took out her phone and used her finger to unlock it. He looked through her photos and noticed that she took a lot of selfies. The most frequent room number that appeared in the background was 327.

Jason carried her to room 327 in the girls' dorms. He used her notes app to find her room passcode and opened the door. He laid her on the bed. Allegra was still out cold.

He noticed her sink was full to the brim with dishes. Empty pizza boxes and chip bags laid on the floor.

Jason sighed, then looked around for a broom.
