Jason looked out of the classroom window. On the street sat a red car, parallel parked in front of an apartment complex outside the gates of Asfalís.
That car's been in the same spot for months, thought Jason, The owner probably died.
"Jason," called out Mr. Sien, snapping him out of it, "Are you listening? We have an exam tomorrow."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm listening..." Jason looked at the calendar. School had been going for three days, and he was already sick of it. The only reason Jason had come was because he liked the idea of being safe...
He looked around the room.
A bulletproof box encapsulated the teacher's desk, a lock securing it from the inside.
Many students wore bulletproof vests.
One student even wore chainmail.
...Although it seemed that a lot of students had the same idea.
The bell rung.
"Remember, there will be a test tomorrow!" The teacher locked himself up and used his phone to teleport to his home.

He sighed. That meant he would have to walk to the student dorms. He walked out of the classroom, facing the crowd of quiet students scrambling to get to the dorms.
Murmurs flowed occasionally throughout the crowd...
"I hear they'll do it today..."
"I've got a gun in my closet..."
"Twenty bucks and I'll spare you when it happens..."
Jason bumped into a girl, knocking her books out of her arms. She had deep blue hair with blue eyes, and made Jason's heart skip a beat.
"Hey," he said, "You okay?" Jason picked up a book and tossed it to her. She caught it.
"I'm fine," she grabbed her books and turned around. "Watch where you're going."
She left without saying another word.
"Tough," murmured Jason, turning to walk to his dorm.
The school lights dimmed.
Many students broke out into a run.
Jason sighed and went into an empty class, trying to find an outlet. He plugged his phone in and waited impatiently.
"Come on... charge already..." he tapped his foot.
