"Lottie!! Come here! I need to finish your pigtails before we go!!" Holly yelled across the landing. Both her and Johnny had decided to send Lottie to the elementary school closeby just for one semester whilst Johnny was working on the movie. It would be hard to explain to the just turned 6 year old she had to work at home. She heard the little girl squeal and Holly hoped it was a good thing, as she finished brushing Pippa's hair. Thankfully Johnny walked into the bedroom with Lottie on his hip. "Here's the escaped munchkin." He smirked kissing his wife and placing the child down on the floor. "Ok let Mumma do your pigtails ok then we can go to your new school!" Lottie nodded climbing up and sitting on the bed as her mother began. "I've just got my call time. Tomorrow it's 7am.." "Woah that's early for you isn't it?" Holly chuckled. "Yes, so I'll need extra special love in the morning having to get up that early!" He pouted before stealing another kiss from his wife and scooping up Pippa onto his hip. "Well don't you look pretty lovely girl." He said to his youngest.
After the school run, Holly and Johnny returned to the house, and Hilda offered coffee to the couple. "You know what, I think I'm ok." Holly said with a smile to the housekeeper. "You don't want one?" Johnny said shocked, the household got through a LOT of caffeine. "No I just don't fancy it." Holly said with a smile, before she began tidying up and picking up the children's toys that were scattered around the living room.
Johnny was playing with Pippa in the garden when Hilda approached. "Mr Johnny, I don't want to be a tattle tale, but it's Holly.. she's been throwing up for the past ten minutes." "Throwing up?" Johnny questioned as he stood up talking to his housekeeper. "Yes.. I think it was the eggs for breakfast. I've just noticed they went off today." Johnny nodded "Ok thanks for letting me know. I'll go check on her. Pip come on darling."
The concerned husband climbed the stairs after sitting his daughter down in front of a movie, to find his wife. "Hols?" He said walking into the master bedroom. She was sat on the edge of the bed sipping a bottle of water. "You ok?" "Yeah honestly I'm fine I feel a lot better now, it was grim though. Hilda said the eggs were off." She stood and wrapped her arms around her husband. "Where's Pippa? I need to go over that charity paperwork with you before you get snowed under with the film." "She's settled in front of Frozen for the millionth time.. is now a good time?" Holly nodded and led the way to the office to begin some paperwork.
After a long afternoon of paperwork and logistics where even Pippa fell asleep on the chesterfield couch in Johnny's office the couple were done. "Time to go get Madam. I hope she's had a good day" Holly said nervously. "She will be fine, that school is wonderful. She needed friends her own age and space away from us to learn and grow." Johnny added. "Do you wanna go and I'll stay with Pip? I'll wake her up once you've left otherwise she will never sleep tonight." Holly nodded before kissing her husband and heading out to the foyer when she heard thunder. "How have we already been home a week from vacation??" She said pulling on her jacket. "Time flies baby." Johnny said smirking.
The next morning was carnage, Johnny was as usual running late, the girls were playing up, and Holly was exhausted after a bad night's sleep. "John! You're gonna be late!!" Holly said as he chugged down a coffee whilst half way through a conversation with Lottie. "I know I know! I'm going!!" He said as he placed the mug in the sink. "Bye girls I love you.." he kissed their heads before rushing round the island to his wife. "Remember Issac is back today." He said before kissing his wife and she pulled back. "Today? Johnny it's not even the middle of the month yet.." "yes it is babe. It's the 21st. Why?" "Oh yeah.. god time really is flying." Holly replied before kissing her husband and sending him on his way.
Once again the school run was done, and Pippa was at Kindergarten. Holly ran a few errands and then headed home, she sat down on the couch nursing a cup of English breakfast tea whilst something nagged her brain, "What date did he say it was?" She said out loud to nobody before pulling out her phone and reconfirming Thursday 21st September.
"Fuccccck." She said after taking a long sip of tea. She quickly pulled her phone up once more and unlocked it, opening an app, she scrolled through it and realised one thing. She was almost 6 days late. Her eyes went wide as she slowly lent and placed the mug of tea on the coffee table. Sitting back she covered her mouth with her hand in shock, did this mean? Was she? She tried to not get too hung up on the idea, before silently heading upstairs to the master bedroom and entering the en suite. Rifling through the drawers she found a box of pregnancy tests. Bracing herself she opened the packet with shaky hands, read the instructions as if she didn't know what she was doing and did what she needed to do. In fact, she did 5 just to be sure, placing them all down on the side she sat on the edge of the bathtub. Her little legs bopping up and down with nerves as she prayed to the gods silently.
Eventually, she found the strength and courage to stand, slowly turning all the tests the right way round and lined them up, she took one final look in the mirror in front of her, tucking her hair behind her ears before glancing down.
