My Mind

Hosptial two- 6

I'm woken to some soft fingers playing with my hair. I stay still despite the slightly uncomfortable position. I shift slightly so my back would be in less pain and the room seems to still.

"Is she awake"  Niall asks.

There was a pause as the hand in my hair moves and shakes my shoulder slightly. It moves back to my hair which I realise now was falling across their arm.

"She'll be asleep for probably another hour" a soft voice says extremely similar to my own.

" I was so scared when she collapsed outside the classroom. I didn't know she had just been told you were in hospital" Niall pauses then continues " I just didn't think and now we're here. I don't mind it I just think the boys are a bit mad I left without telling them. Liam knew though."

They fall silent for a few minutes and I feel myself drifting off slightly.

" your sisters amazing you know" Niall says.

At the voice I'm wide awake again interested in whatever was about to bed said.

" she really is one of the best. I've got 8 siblings you know and she really is the one I trust the most. We were closest as kids. I mean us quadruplets we're inseparable  but you would always find us two together. When I realised stuff about her first no one believed me so we hid it. Together we helped each other through our problems until the other two noticed and just us four looked after each other. We're the youngest by five years you know." She says.

" what did you notice" he asks concerned.

I feel Novas hand pause in hesitation and I lean into her touch slightly. She taps twice subtly in acknowledgement of me being awake.

"Everyone's got their own issues and everyone chooses who they tell what so it's up to her how much you know about her" she says.

"Oh, okay then... I'm going to get something from the cafeteria do you want anything?" He asks.

"Two hot chocolates please" she responds and I hear his footsteps leaving and the door shut after him.

"Nads?"

Slowly I sit up careful of the pain in my neck. We just stare at each other for a few seconds before I give her a huge hug.

"You don't know how scared I was for you Nova. I thought you would die before I got here you know how panicked I was" I scold gently.

" I know I'm sorry you had to come I know how much your study means to you" she says.

" the quad is more important than anything else in this world. Doesn't matter if I was half way through an assessment I would leave in an instant to help." I say.

She smiles and we laugh slightly before she turns serious.

" is it any better?" She asks and I knew there was no point in lying to her.

" I think it might of got worse if I'm honest not by a lot but I had like three on the way here. I don't know what to do anymore V. I just want to curl up in everyone's arms and feel the comfort but mums not responding to my texts or even my calls. I haven't been able to contact anyone because of the zones." I sob into her side while she holds me tight.

"You zone as often as before?" She asks carefully.

"If I'm honest I don't know. I don't think so but I really just don't know. I feel so bad" I say.

"It's not your fault Nadia. It's not like they have tried contacting. God I'm the one that cut off first I haven't seen anyone in months. I haven't seen the nieces in a year." Nova says.

"We really aren't good at this are we" i say after a moment of silence.

She laughs and I listen to her talk while we sip on our hot chocolates that Niall had dropped off before he left. I stay with Nova for another full day before she gets released. She was still extremely tired so for the first night we stayed at the hotel.

I helped her around while she got used to her crutches which was difficult because of her wrist so mostly we hobbled around my arm around her waist. When we left the hotel to go to her house we were met by a few of her fans. They stand confused for a full 30 seconds when we come into view. We look to each other and we smile.

"This is my sister" she says once I had helped her over to them.

"Well we can see that, how are you feeling now" one girl says.

"I'm doing a lot better and now I've got Nadia here to help me. Really I'm thankful came all the way from her college in London." Nova says. "Glad I have an actually smart sibling" I give her a look and she laughs. " I'm glad I'm closest to the most talented sister"

I nod shyly as they look to me then they continue talking to Nova. One girl scoots closer to me and looks nervous. I smile and she returns it gaining her confidence at how easily I present myself for her to ask something.

" what college do you go to?" She asks.

"I go to guildhall for music, songwriting and writing."

"What do you do as like your job. Because Nova's a model I was wondering" she asks.

"Well when we were younger I joined her for some modelling stuff but my passion is music. I also do some writing and art but music is the main one." I smile.

"How long have you done music?" A different girl asks popping into the conversation.

" a long time but I truly started at about 12 and recorded my first one at 14. I've wrote a lot of songs since then I'm just finishing one last one before started to properly record an album actually"

"I wish you luck" they say and everyone says some form of goodbye taking a few last photos before I help Nova into the car with my stuff.

Nova waves from the window and then turns to the driver telling him where to go. I lean onto her shoulder and we sit in a comfortable silence for the rest of the car ride to her house where I help her inside dragging my stuff behind us and closing the front door. I make a small dinner of just toasted sandwiches seen as it was already getting late and we were both exhausted. We eat the food on the couch the TV playing quietly in the background as I fall asleep wrapped in Novas arms for the first time in a while. It was peaceful.
