It was rare, I was there
I remember it all too wellUnder the gentle embrace of the summer sun and amidst the warm breeze rushing past her, the girl stood calf deep in the ocean water.
Her hair braided back in two, her rounded cheeks accentuated by the happiest beam of light which shone through her smile. Innocence danced in her wide eyes as she gasped at the sight of a wave rushing in.
A squeal surpassed her lips as she was swept up off her feet by nurturing arms. Hayun clung onto her Mother's body as the wave flooded the whole bottom half of them. Her Mother held her up a little higher, her honey like laugh ringing through the air.
"Oh, my baby." Her mother exclaimed, the joy in her voice matching the sparkle in her eyes. The two, enveloped in the ocean's embrace, shared a moment suspended in time.
The waves retreated, leaving behind a canvas of wet sand imprinted with the memories of their laughter.
Her mother, with water glistening on her sun-kissed skin, gently set Hayun down. They resumed their playful escapade along the shore, the wet sand squishing beneath their bare feet. Seashells became treasures, collected in the pockets of Hayun's little pink beach dress.
As they strolled, the distant sound of laughter grew louder. Hayun's younger brother Hyunwoo and their Father, a duo of giggles and mischief, joined them on the seaside and together, they built a fortress of sand.
Her mother, a beacon of warmth, started up a game of tag that echoed with the purity of childhood joy.
Hayun's heart swelled with happiness as she chased after Hyunwoo, the soft sand beneath their feet. Hyunwoo, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, dodged and weaved, his laughter blending seamlessly with the rhythm of the waves.
Their father, a pillar of strength and joy, joined the game with an exaggerated stumble, eliciting uproarious laughter from his young children. The beach echoed with the sound of their shared delight, a harmonious symphony that resonated through the summer air.
With a mischievous glint, Hyunwoo scooped up wet sand and playfully tossed it toward Hayun. Giggles erupted as the usual sibling rivalry unfolded.
Their mother, watching with a warm loving smile, captured these moments with a mental photograph.
She was the happiest she's ever been, right here in this moment. Hayun could see it as she glanced at her Mother whose smile only grew at the sight of her family.
