When it's Thursday, the day I have yet another Calculus test, I walk into class with confidence. Before class, Grant stopped me and wished me good luck, a reasurring smile on his lips. I couldn't stop myself from hugging him.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, after school, Grant sat with me and covered almost every topic that I didn't get. He made things simpler to understand, and I don't know how to repay him for the help.
The next time I see Grant is in English. He's relaxing back in his class, indulged in a book. Mrs. Simon, our English teacher, smiles at me as I walk in.
I brush past Grant's desk, and he immediately closes his book, "Hey."
I temporarily sit at a random desk, "Hi. What're you reading?"
"A classic Percy Jackson book."
"I could kiss you right now. For so many reasons--"
Grant winks, "Pucker up, sweetheart."
"--but I'm not going to," I say as I roll my eyes.
"Damn," he laughs, "I'm assuming one of the reasons is Calc?"
I vigorously nod my head, "I think I did good. Like really good."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah," I say, "how can I repay you?"
Grant shakes his head, "Repay me? You're insane, I don't need anything."
"But you wasted two afternoons with me."
"Wasted? I enjoyed it."
I look down at the desk, "Seriously--"
The bell rings.
"We'll talk at lunch, okay?" Grant smiles like he always does before I get up to go to my own seat.
As class goes on, I can't help but steal glances at Grant. I realize that this is one of the only classes where he doesn't disturb anyone. He's very attention as Mrs. Simon talks.
The more things I notice about him, the more I want to learn about him.
