JUNE 4TH, 2015
"As you all know, today is June 4th, the Remembrance of D-Day. I'll be going over how much the world population dropped, the wars that occurred after.. Y/N, head up, please."
You lift your head up off your desk, staring at your teacher from across the room. You take an earbud out and rub one of your eyes.
"Sorry.. didn't get much sleep last night, sir."
"Pay attention. It's disrespectful to nod off when I'm talking about such a horrible event."
A girl a few rows away from you giggles quietly. You turn your head towards her, glaring at her.
"Yeaaah, Y/N, you should pay attention more! Or are you too focused on everyone in the locker room?"
"If you were focused on me enough to notice in the locker room, maybe you should come over later."
"EWWWUH! I'M NOT A FUCKING DYKE!"
"BOTH OF YOU, OUTSIDE, NOW!"
You groan as you both stand up and walk out of the room. Your teacher follows, closing the door behind him.
"What is wrong with you two? If you're going to argue, do it outside of my classroom! Especially on a day like today?"
"Dude, do you gotta remind us of it every year? Like, I get it, but c'mon.." You say, fidgeting with one of your bracelets.
"FIFTY SIX percent of the population died that day! Not even to mention the wars that came after. Do you have no heart? Something came over all of us that day, including myself, and we all have to live with what we did. You wouldn't understand, you weren't alive."
"Yeaaah, Y/N, that's pretty messed up.."
"No, YOU, young lady, you're the one who instigated this in the first place. Apologize."
She lets out an exaggerated sigh, turning towards you and looking you up and down. "Sorry."
Liar.
Liars all around you.
After school ends, you walk out to the front of the school, getting on a bus sitting in front of it.
"Heading to.. South D.P.U." An announcement plays above you.
You put your earbuds in, laying your head against the window. As the bus drives by construction building after construction building, a thought bubbles in your head.
Ever since the day you were born, this world has been nothing but hell on Earth.
Quite literally.
Those around you live in fear that the devil who brought this hell would reappear, causing the world to turn against itself once more. Small fry devils are more powerful because of it.
Nobody knows which devil it was.
Everyone says the "ability was too vague" to tell or something. You never really paid attention.
You couldn't care less about today.
As you get off the bus, you walk up a path to your home. It's small, but at least it has two stories.
You open the door, placing your bag on a small table and kicking your shoes off. "Maaaa! I'm hooome!" You project, yawning and walking down the hallway. You pause, backtracking to the front door. There's an extra pair of shoes.
"Is it alright if I smoke in here, ma'am?"
"Sure, sure, go ahead!" You hear your mom talking to somebody in the kitchen.
