Regret - The Rookie

Chapter 5

Lucy's POV

The rest of the shift was standard, mainly consisting of traffic stops. After shift, Tamara and I got ready to go home. We met up with Tim outside.

Tim: "Hey girls, what have you guys got planned for tonight?"

Lucy: "I was thinking about a mother daughter date night, mainly consisting of watching movies and to catch up on lost time"

Tamara: "Really?" I nod at her.

Tim: "That sounds beautiful, at any stage if you need anything from the shops just let me know and I will get it for you two."

Lucy: "Thanks Tim." 

Tim looks around then pulls me in for a kiss, and kneels down turning his attention to Tamara then extending his arm to her for a handshake as he doesn't want to push her into anything. I don't know what she was thinking but all of a sudden she launches herself at Tim, giving him a hug.

We then part ways to head home.

At the station

Grey's POV

I was completing paperwork when I heard a knock. I look up and see that there is the detectives standing outside, and I signal to come in.

Grey: "Hey guys, how can help you?"

Nyla: "We were wondering about if we could recommend someone to test?"

Grey: "Yeah you can, who where you thinking?"

Angela: "Lucy. We reckon that she would make an amazing detective."

Nyla: "At our crime scene earlier today, they were gathering evidences when Tamara spotted some type imprints on the road that pointed south-east, that no other officer spotted and then Lucy spotted the damage on the property up a bit further. It showed they turned off to travel south."

Angela: "We were amazed that they pieced that together, but none of the other officers spotted it."

Grey: "Okay! But that's not the first time Lucy has done anything like that before, is it?"

Nyla: "No sir."

Grey: "Ok, I'll put her name forward. Now with Tamara, no one knows the plan for her but I do wish to ask Lucy to get Tamara to take a test for us to see if there is anything that we can do here for her."

Angela: "Thank you sir." They leave and I immediately put Lucy's name forward for the test as well as start planning something for Tamara.

Lucy's POV

We arrive back at the apartment and settled down. I made dinner for us and some snack with help from Tamara. We ended up eating dinner and talking, just getting to know each other better. I drove Tamara to the shops and we went shopping for a couple of hours, once we returned home we watched a movie. Tamara had settled down in my arms during the movie and I held her close to me. During the movie she tapped me on the shoulder.

Tamara (softly): "I love you mum." I was taken back by this and couldn't believe what she was saying.

Lucy: "I love you too, sweetie." We continued the movie before heading to bed. Tamara has been a bit clingy since she met me but I understand why, she just wants to be near me and I assuming to make sure that I'm still here. She asked to sleep with me and I just couldn't say no to her. We hugged and kissed goodnight and went to sleep.

In the morning

Tamara's POV

I wake up laying next to my mum, she is absolutely amazing. I'm glad that I walked into the station when I did, I missed so much time with her. She was still asleep, I wanted to do something nice for her. I snuck out of bed and head to the kitchen, I remember watching mum making her coffee in the morning. So I made her coffee and brought to back to the room, I placed in on the nightstand and crawled back into bed.
