I walked towards the sociology room, my heart beating so fast. I went to my sit and waited to the class to be filled up, and to my surprised half of the class is not yet here, I looked at the time and it is already eight in the morning just in time as

Professor Monroe entered the room, and glanced around the classroom, he smirked as half of his class dropped out.

"Well at least the number is a lot smaller compared last semester, so I expect that no one will dropped out on my class now" he leaned on his desk crossing his hands on his chest.

"Now I am going to discuss our syllabus, and I wanted to adjust your seating arrangement" he said, he then called those students who were far away, our classroom is huge, but now that half of it dropped out the space is big enough for us to be seated one sit apart, I glance at Kath and she sighed as she adjusted her sit on the other side leaving an empty chair on each side of us.

Professor Monroe then discuss the class syllabus and started discussing. He is really a master of his subject matter, and his lectures are delivered with a confidence and clarity that leaves me in awe, just like the way he takes me it leaves me in awe.

I remembered how surprised I am during the sociology conference, I did not expect him to be one of the speakers and I listened on how he discussed his topic and that's when I realized why he seemed so knowledgeable about it, it's because that's his life style.

"So tell me what are included in traditional focuses of sociology?" Professor Monroe asked, no one raised their hands, he took a deep breath and sharply looked at us.

"I repeat, what are included in traditional focuses of sociology?" He asked once more, he scanned the room and the room was quiet, I turned my head to look behind and I saw that most of my classmates heads are looking downwards

"Alright I came prepared, he then flashed the randomizer of our names in the screen, he clicked his mouse as we watched our names being jumbled, then he clicked his mouse once more then the randomizer stopped revealing my name, great what a luck! I muttered.

"Okay Ms. Reeves stand up" he looked at me, I stood up adjusting my skirt and glanced at him, I noticed he gaze at my skirt for a bit and looked back at me

"What are included in traditional focuses of sociology?" He asked, and I am glad I made an advanced reading on our textbooks.

"Traditional focuses of sociology include social stratification, social class, social mobility, religion, secularization, law, sexuality, gender, and deviance" I said then I sat down, he glanced at me and I can see he was surprised that I know the answer, what do you think of me? Stupid? I smirked internally

"Next time if you know the answer you should just raised your hands, it will save us a lot of time but yes Ms. Reeves is right" he curtly said, I can't understand why he need to be rude to me that I answered his question correct, some professor would commend me on that but this is my first time to be scolded on answering the right question, you see like what I mentioned I am not stupid, modesty aside I sometimes top our classes and made several awards since I started studying here, do my parents know it? Of course not, I don't need any of their compliments.

Professor Monroe continue to his lessons and he started to discuss about social stratification, I write on my notes those things that are not on the text book. He then discuss the first underlying principles of social stratification which is Complexity.

"Now tell me what is stratification system?" He scanned the room once more and no one raised their hands, and I remembered what he said earlier so I slowly raised mine

"Yes Ms. Reeves?" He asked pointing at me and I noticed once more how he looked at my skirt.

"It is the intricate social networks and social institutions that give rise to these seeming disparities" I answered, he brushed his fingers on his chin
