CHAPTER XXIX: IF ONLY YOU KNEW

"Samantha" she whispered unsure what she is going to do. I smile at her and offered my food

"I am fine we are just strolling around, you know it's my first time here in New York" she said as she looked at me. I closed the space between us and take a peek at my niece

"Wow, you gave birth to a baby girl" I told her, I hold my breath as I gaze on the baby, she looks exactly as Simon now but I did not dare to mentioned it to her.

The tiny bundle of joy in the stroller slept peacefully, her eyes closed tightly as if she didn't want to miss a single moment of her slumber. Her delicate features were soft and round, with plump cheeks and rosy lips that curled slightly in a dreamy smile.

Her tiny fists clutched the pink blanket tightly as she drifted off into a deep sleep. Her head rested gently against the plush cushion of the stroller seat, and her chest rose and fell with each soft breath she took.

"She's so beautiful Maria" I whispered as I continue to stare at her then a car honks loudly, startling the baby. Her eyes flutter open, and she blinks a few times, I smile as she started to yawn then let out a small cry.

Maria bends down to soothe the baby, then she picked her up then snuggles her into her arms, still half-asleep.

"What's her name?" I asked Maria, she hesitated before taking a deep breath

"Her name is Simone Marianna" she said as she rocks the baby to sleep

"What a beautiful name, may I carry her?" I asked, Maria is unsure but in the end she gave baby Simone to me.

My face breaks into a warm smile as I carry Simone off her mother's arms. I cradled her close, holding her tightly against my chest. I wrapped around my hands on my niece's body, providing a safe and secure haven.

Baby Simone's head is resting peacefully on my arms and I can't help to notice that my heart swells with love as I feel my niece's weight against mine

"Hello sweet angel, you are so beautiful" I coo and slightly brushed my fingertips on her cheeks. Maria's phone rings and she excused her self a bit I nodded and looked at baby Simone once more.

I know she came to this world unexpected, and she should not be born as she is a child of a Catholic Priest, but she deserves all the love in the world.

I rocked her gently back and forth, swaying my niece in a soothing rhythm. Baby Simone yawn, and I can't help smile on how cute she is. I vowed myself that I will always be there to love and protect her.

"Samantha, my friend is here and we need to go" she smiles. I nodded and laid Baby Simone on her stroller, covering her with her little pink blanket.

Maria looked at me so confused but I noticed she smiled when she saw me brush my fingers on her baby's cheeks

"Samantha" she started

"Don't worry I will not tell anyone I saw you again here" I smiled at her turning my gaze to Maria

"Thank you Samantha, you take care" as she stood up and started to go behind the stroller

"You two take care" I smiled and Maria started to walk pushing the stroller

I watched as Maria and my niece walks away until I can't see their figure anymore. When the first time I knew about Simon and Maria the first thing I felt was disappointment, and betrayal but when I saw baby Simone for the first time in the hospital I can't help but to be amaze by her but I know as well if this secret got out, it would ruin my brother's reputation and name.

My thoughts about Simon and his "family" was cut off when my phone rings, it is Professor Cruise my career advisor and she wanted to talk to me, I agreed to meet her tomorrow.
