The smell was delicious, it felt like ice cream on a hot day, or a fire when it's cold. It smelt like something she was meant to have, something that would fit perfectly; like Tetris. It woke her up in the night, like freshly picked strawberries on a summer day or the feeling of warmth underneath the covers. It was perfect. Now that she couldn't be in the sun, she learned so much about her new abilities.

She smelt it in her sleep — enhanced smelling — having the best dreams about whatever the owner of the smell is like. She followed it, going the direction of the smell until it was right in front of her. She pushed through the forest that surrounded the smell, she was lost. She fought through the trees and finally found who it belonged to.

It was a boy; he was taller than her, but not taller than Louis or Jakob. He had dark curly hair and he was fighting a dummy with a sword. His orange shirt was the most noticeable, standing out amongst the darkness, but he was all alone. Every hit that he hit was more intense than before, as if he was taking his frustrations out on it. His curls moved hastily, momentarily undoing their forms before turning into a new coil. His pale skin was a pink shade from all the movement mixed with the winter air.

She fiddled with the sleeves of her dress, Louis and Jakob owned clothes that look as if they were from the 19th century, she needed to improve their closets, but for now she was stuck with a white nightgown with puffy sleeves. The tree she hid behind was dying, a simple shove would finish it off.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Odettes eyes widened as she turned around, she let her guard down. Flashbacks from her conversation with Louis about the vampire rules flashed into her head (the first rule was to never let your guard down!). The curly haired boy was behind her now with the sword pointed at her throat, unbeknownst to her, who turned a little too fast and got cut.

The boys eyes widened as the girl with the cut throat was still standing and breathing as if he didn't just hurt her. He had never hurt anyone before, this was the first time. The girl was confused, she felt only a pinch, but it didn't hurt, not to the extent it did when she was hungry at least. She was surprised that he jumped back, his sword almost falling in the process. "Are you okay?" She asked him.

The boy on the other hand, just slit a girls throat and then watched it heal itself! That's not normal! He needed to know who this girls parents were if she managed to heal that fast out of no where. "Who are you? Who are your parents?" She had to be claimed if she could do something like that, but he had never seen her around before.

"That's a personal question to ask! I don't even know!"

"Of course you know, you just healed!" He came forward, picking his sword up and keeping it to his side. Odette took a deep breath before remembering the smell, hesitating while taking steps closer. He watched her lick her lips before baring her pointy teeth. In a fit of surprise, he brought his sword forward to protect himself, at the girl who was now charging at him. His eyes closed as he felt her body make contact with the sword, soon falling limp.
