In the ethereal realm of Tel'aran'rhiod, where dreams and reality intertwined, Rand lay on a bed, unconscious. Ishamael, appearing as the figure of Selene, was by his side, caressing Rand's face with a sinister touch. As Rand slept, a voice in the Old Tongue echoed through the dream.

"Ishamael," Rand whispered, his voice tinged with a hint of recognition.

Ishamael speaking Old Tongue, "Are you playing in my dreams again, Lanfear?"

Rand slowly faded away, revealing Lanfear, who grinned mischievously.

"How'd you know?" Lanfear teased.

Ishamael in Old Tongue, "Subtlety's never been your strength."

Ishamael got out of the bed, heading toward a table to pour himself a drink. Lanfear, stretching languidly, followed suit.

"I just have to pass the time here while I'm waiting for someone to get some shut-eye," Lanfear explained.

Ishamael continued pouring himself a drink, "People blame us for 'breaking the world,' but they didn't bother to pick up the pieces. Three thousand years later and they're still bashing about with swords and queens."

Lanfear poured herself a drink and raised it in a toast.

"To the past," Lanfear proposed.

"To the future. After our Great Lord's victory," Ishamael replied.

They clinked glasses and drank, the air heavy with the weight of ancient schemes.

"I assume Rand learned the truth about your innkeeper act. How did you tell him?" Ishamael inquired.

"I didn't. Moiraine did. I'm surprised you let her live in the first place," Lanfear revealed.

"A dead Aes Sedai is useless," Ishamael explained.

"And one without power isn't?" Lanfear questioned.

"Desperation opens the mind to more...interesting choices. As it did for you," Ishamael retorted.

"Mm. Aren't you worried I'll betray you?" Lanfear probed.

"Will you?" Ishamael countered.

"Obviously," they chuckled, sharing an understanding between ancient allies. Ishamael took a drink from Lanfear's glass.

"Do you know why the Great Lord woke me first? Why he speaks only to me?" Ishamael pondered.

"Because... Moghedien's insane, Graendal's a vain idiot, and the boys couldn't execute a plan even if they were under Compulsion. And Elara is unpredictable," Lanfear explained.

"Because, among all of the Chosen... I actually believe in the Dark. I believe the only way to stop all this suffering... is to stop the Wheel itself. Stop everything," Ishamael revealed.

"So why release me?" Lanfear inquired.

"Because I know what you want. What you've always wanted," Ishamael stated.

What you've always wanted," Ishamael stated
