They debriefed on the way to Boston. Their information was consistent. Father Carmichael had left for a seminary and been replaced by a young priest called Conner Smith. He was more vindictive than the old preacher. His sermons talked a lot about monsters in disguise and hidden truths, about staying on the straight and narrow and not consorting with Satan and his damned souls... you didn't have to be a genius to work out who the priest was talking about. The young priest had caused quite a stir in the community, both positively and negatively. Unlike Carmichael, he was involved with the faithful and visited them often. He lived with a man he said was his brother, who looked ill, attended all his services and followed him like a shadow.

The priest who had officiated this morning was the priest of the neighbouring parish. Smith had left the day before with arms and baggage, recalled by the bishop as a matter of urgency. All the clues seemed to point to the priest... was he a hunter? Was he from the same branch as Aimé Habbington? They considered the option of making an appointment with one of the bishops who supervised the areas where the wolves had been killed. The orders had to come from somewhere! They also decided to find out whether the packs that had been slaughtered had any connection with the church. What's more, the words used by those who had attacked the Amaroq camp after the gala had a biblical connotation. Previous research had yielded nothing, but now the new information shed a different light. They were interrupted in their plans by a call from Lena. She was excited because she wanted to tell Eric that she had felt the babies move a little. It was a good thing Eric wasn't driving, because he was at a loss for words.

"Hey sweetheart, I think you've broken your husband." Colin said, while laughing heartily.

Lena laughed back adding, "Eric has to get home quickly to touch the babies. Colin too, and Morgan and Galen. Galen?"

Galen, who was dozing against Morgan, smiled, "Yes, my little fairy?"

"Is Galen still ill?"

His sister's tone was worried. Galen sighed, "Yes, and you?"

"Galen also has to get back so that Lena can help him." Lena said with a sigh as well.

Galen straightened up in the back seat, "What do you mean, help me?"

"Lena isn't ill any more. So if Galen is still ill, we have to find a way for him to get better."

Eric frowned. Since they'd left, Lena had said she was better, but Galen was still just as sick, "There's a Wolf doctor in Boston. We'll find out what's wrong. It could be a reaction to poisoning."

"For a fortnight?" Galen smiled a crooked smile, "We haven't left the village since your wedding."

Colin quickly turned his head from the road to look at Galen; "All the more reason to find out. You ate a rabbit on the last full moon, so maybe you ingested a parasite."

They heard the pack's doorbell ring. Lena picked it up quickly.

"Lena has to go. Tino and his baby are coming to the house to bring some things for Lena's newts. Galen, you have to get better quickly and get home quickly. Go and see the doctor! Goodbye everyone. Eric, I love you."

And she hung up. Éric shook his head, completely moved by his young wife. Galen sighed.

"It's getting worrying, Sweetheart." Morgan said as he stroked his hips.

"No, it's not." Galen said with a shake of his head.

Eric turned to his brother-in-law; "Morgan isn't the only one worried. We're all worried. If it's not Lena who's been giving you nausea, then where's it coming from? Colin, we're going straight to the pack house in Boston."
