"Kaan."
"Can you come?"
"Do you need help?"
"I've fallen."
"Nothing broken?"
"I don't think so, but I'm bleeding."
Kaan softly curses to himself.
"I'm on my way. When I'm there, I'll call you. Stay lying down."
Without waiting for Seb's response, he ends the call and quickly moves through the room to grab some things. Meanwhile, he texts Rick to let him know that he's going to Seb and asks Rick to watch over Bo. In the basement, he takes the car, sits down, and sets up his phone. Then he drives away at a controlled speed, all nerves seem to be under control. His dark suit fits tightly around his muscular body. His shirt is dark in color. In the glove compartment, there's a dark pair of sunglasses. If people were to see him, he could be straight out of a 007 film. Although no one can tell if he belongs to the good or the bad guys. That always makes him laugh, a mysterious smile that makes everyone think he doesn't belong to Bond. With a moderate speed, he drives without rushing to Seb's house. In all those years of training, he has learned that hurrying doesn't make any sense. At most, he arrives at the address, possibly ten seconds earlier, out of breath and full of adrenaline.
"Seb, I'll be there in a moment. Can I come in, or is the door locked?"
His calm, deep voice makes Seb hold back. He could cry with happiness now that he hears Kaan's voice.
"You can easily get in through the back door, there's a key under the flowerpot with the painted geranium on it."
"See you in a bit."
It doesn't take a minute, and Seb hears a key in the lock. Kaan steps in cautiously, into the darkness.
"Seb?"
"Upstairs."
There's fear in the young man's voice. Kaan hears it instantly. His eyes adjust to the dark, and he strides quickly through the kitchen to the hallway. Fortunately, houses are almost the same everywhere in this country, which makes him smile. With stomping feet on the stairs, he reaches Seb in the bathroom. For a moment, he looks at Seb, from his anxious eyes to his still-wet naked body, then notices the blood.
"Stay lying down, don't move."
With an outstretched arm towards Seb, impossible to grab him, it seems more like Kaan is urging the young man to stay put. With his other hand, he grabs a bath towel and quickly sits next to Seb's leg. For a moment, he seems to caress the skin.
"Is this painful?"
"No."
"How about this?"
"Neither."
Then Kaan pulls the fabric under Seb's leg and ties it tightly around his thigh.
"I'll call for an ambulance just to be sure, to have them check your knee. The wounds don't seem really deep, maybe one or two might need stitches."
"Damn."
Seb reacts angrily, more because he's lying here naked when strangers have to come in. Without being able to react to Kaan, who's already walking to the front door with the phone to his ear, he swears quietly to himself. On his way back upstairs, Kaan turns on all the lights he can find.
"Where's your bathrobe?"
"In the bedroom."
"Can you twist a bit? I'll help you with this."
The doorbell rings as Seb, with great effort, covers himself a bit.
"He's upstairs, had surgery two days ago, has two wounds that are deeper, the rest seems like abrasions, and the operation wounds have opened. Otherwise, he doesn't seem to have any fractures."
"And who are you?"
The unknown voice sounds sharp and malicious. She sounds like Lara.
"I'm his physiotherapist, chiropractor, and his guide."
After that, she is silent, possibly because they have entered the bathroom. They look around, see the crutches, and get to work. Kaan stays outside in the hallway. His phone rings.
"Is it serious?"
"No, it's not that bad. I think I'll ride with him to the hospital, then I'll let you know."
"Alright."
"How's Bo?"
"He's sitting across from me, he wants to know how Seb is."
"Tell him I'll call again after we've spoken to his doctor. And Rick, let him go to sleep. It might take at least an hour before I know more."
With a smile at Bo's concern for his friend, Kaan looks back at the bathroom.
"Can you walk on your own?"
"I think so, with crutches."
"Just wait."
Kaan intervenes in the conversation. Without thinking, he grabs Seb by the waist and lifts the young man gently.
"Hold on tight."
He walks down the stairs like this, gives Seb his crutches, and the young man limps, supported by the woman, to the car.
