Norma? Onceler x Norma fanfic

Well i wonder (bonus)

Onceler's point of view
(it's been 2 years since the Lorax left)

"the start of the end, the end of the star, why did i started the end? why did i ended the start?" this is what i have to ask myself until i'll leave the land that i poisoned.

I lost the sense of time by hiding myself in this empty factory, poor Norma, while my mum loved my money, she truly loved me, why did i threw away something so important? so blinded.
I will never leave this place, i don't deserve to, everyone must forgot about me, bit still the first weeks after the disaster were terrible: the customers got angry because the company ran out of thneeds, and not because of the truffula valley was completely destroyed by my biggering and greediness, they never cared about the threes and never will.

As i thought and thought, i heard the sounds of the doorbell, who was? i went in front of the covered window to see who was this time, until i heard a voice, a sweet but tired voice, and it was Norma upside down holding a baby, what was she doing here? why did she brought a baby? i made the mechanic hook put them down, until she shouted:

-"Onceler, come out! We need to talk".

I was so undecided, should i do it or not? i would feel so ashamed to look at her after everything that happened, however she found out that the entrance door wasn't looked and went inside, i ran into my office and shut the doors, she obviously saw me and ran towards the door:

-"Onceler please, open the door";
-"Go away";
-"Please";
-"Leave, this is no place for kids, why bother me? you already moved on"

No answer, just silence.

-"... I don't want you to see what i am now, i prefer that you remember me as the man that you fell in love with";

-"Onceler, come on, please, we need to explain to each other lots of things, listen this baby.. is your daughter"

I opened the door in shock, and i saw her, she was even more beautiful after all this time, looking so tired and yet still the same angelic woman that made me famous, I looked down to her arms and i saw her baby... our baby, she was beautiful as the mother, but with brown curly hair, dark eyes, in fact she had similar traits from my family side, it's strange, from now on a piece of me would still be living their life.

-"Would you like to carry her?"
-"Okay.."; i held her, i was so scared to drop her, Norma noticed my panic and her lips curved into a smile.

-"What's her name?"
-"Margaret"; my eyes widened.
-"You actually listened to me that afternoon?"
-"Of course,i always loved to listen to what you had to say".

When Norma first saw him, inside of her woke up  feelings for him, that she didn't felt in a while, she still loved him no matter what, but at the same time it broke her heart seeing that Onceler lost that sparkle in his eyes, yes they were still a beautiful blue shade, but without that sparkle of hope and joy.

They were in his office, just like two years ago, it was all messy and abandoned, he stopped taking care of everything.

-"Margaret is really beautiful, i'm sorry that you have to deal with one baby all alone"
-"that's why i'm here..." she took a deep breath and spoke; -"What if we restart again? together? just me, you and Margaret"

-"take a look outside the window, what do you see?" he said with a feelingless face, rocking the baby
-"i see a.. rock? so?"
-"on it it's wrote "unless", this was left by the Lorax, do you know what does it means?"
-"no, but.."
-"same, and i'm puzzling and puzzling to figure that out"
-"and you'll stay here "exiled" until you'll find out? for how much time?"
-"maybe for the rest of my life".

Norma was feeling frustrated, dealing with a baby and her elder mother wasn't easy, especially alone, but still every day and night she missed a piece of her, him, since the day that Margaret was born she knew that without him, life was going to be unsustainable, but she saw the regret and suffer of her loved one and tried to understand him.

-"... then i will wait for you until the end of the time, just to be together again" she took a long pause; -"can i stay a bit with you? i'm afraid to leave, because i don't know what will happen after"

He nodded at her.
They spend the rest of the afternoon and evening together, Onceler knew that his daughter will never remember him, but he will always keep on his mind his new family, what a curse, can't spend your life with the people that loves you because of your mistakes mede to be loved by your old family.

While Norma came back into Onceler's office after taking a look at the place, she saw Margaret and her dad playing with his guitar, actually Onceler was pointing to the cord and she tried to pinch it, Margaret had a wide smile and Onceler was saying sweet words to her, like "you're playing so well" "you'll be my little rockstar" "no matter what you'll be or do, daddy will always love you" "life can be really harsh with the wrong people, but i leave you in the hands of your mummy, and that's enough for me to know that my little princess will be a great woman like your mum";
That was too much for Norma to handle, so she kneeled on the floor and started to sob, Onceler ran to her and comforted her, his arms were wrapped around her, trying to make her feel, somehow, better.

-"Norma?"
-"yeah?"; she said sniffing a bit.
-"Please, forget about me, one of us must live their own life, i want it to be you"

They stood there in silence, the two lovers were staring at each other, as Norma's eyes were puffy she saw that he was about to cry too.

-"so this will be our last time together?... forever?"

Onceler hugged Norma tightly, making her head rest on his shoulder, this was meant as a yes, and it did.
