Mornings in the apocalypse are slow when you have somewhere safe to be, where nothing can get you, and you are just waiting. Waiting for everything to change, to hopefully go back to normal

Rory and Klaus had found a safe place, they just hoped and prayed that nobody would try to take it from them and rip away what little safety and comfort they had left.

Rory sat on the window seal as she watched outside, it was eerily silent, only a few singing birds could be heard faintly, every so often a walker would stroll past, its rotting body would send chills through her spine, she could almost smell it.

Klaus, who was always a loud sleeper, let out a string of random gibberish, causing Rory to turn and look at him, with her focus now on him she tip-toed over to where he was sleeping, and sat down beside him as she carefully pulled the blanket off of his leg, she slowly peeled back the bandage, grimacing as she did so, she had always hated blood and wounds, the thought of them made her dizzy

looking around at the cut, she took notice of the lack of redness around the scar, over the last few weeks Aurora had been taking note of how much better it locked, rather than being red and puffy, and oozing liquid, it was now his natural tanned color with a bit of dark scabbing, a lot better looking in Auroras opinion

Klaus and Aurora had made the plan to go to Atlanta when his leg was healed, and judging by the look of his leg now, it would be sometime in the next week or so, once Aurora had covered Klauses leg back up, she laid down next to him, she truelly hated how quiet everything was, for it only made the small meaningless noises louder and more terrifying, the scratching of a branch on the side of the building sounded like a walker, so did the wind sometimes, any noise set alarm bells off in Auoras head and she hated it, but she knew she would have to get used to it, this was the world now, no matter how much she wanted things to go back to normal.

Aurora didn't feel herself fall asleep, but she felt herself shoot awake at the sound of the door rattling, this definitely wasn't the doing of a walker and she didn't know if that scared her more or less, sitting up in her spot, she kicked off the blanket that was covering her legs and grabbed ahold of her gun that was sitting beside her

focusing on the door in front of her she heard what sounded like 2 or three human voices, acting quickly she gripped her best friend's arm and shook it harshly.

" Klaus, wake up, somebody's trying to get in," she whispered quickly, when the boy wouldn't wake up her harsh shaking turned into frantic as soon as she heard the familiar sound of a gun click, turning her focus back onto the door she watched fearfully as the handle of the door clattered onto the ground

once Klaus had finally woken up, he went to open his mouth, most likely to complain about Aurora waking him up, but upon feeling her slap her hand over his mouth he stopped, especially after seeing the panic in the blonde girl's eyes, placing a finger over her mouth the girl gestured for him to be quiet, nodding his head in understanding Klaus sat up slowly, soon hearing the sound that Aurora had found so frightening, Klaus quickly rolled over and grabbed his gun that he had kept hidden under his pillow (even though Aurora had scolded him for it) and got up to stand next to Aurora

" turn off the main light so we can we them, they won't be able to see us," she whispered to Klaus who quickly listened and ran over and flicked off the light, leaving the two in complete darkness, the very second the lights went off, the intruders walked in, Auoras plan had worked, for once they walked forward a few steps, the front door light would make them visible, but still keep Aurora and Klaus in complete darkness

" put your fucking hands and don't move," said the girl trying to sound scary and tough, even though she felt the complete opposite, she prayed her words would make them leave automatically, but in what world did the girl get what she wanted, seeing the faint outline of the figures put their hands up, she let herself relax slightly.
