half an hour later Aurora was rummaging through the basement, she found a few useful things, some comic books for Carl, and a few winter jackets that would absolutely be necessary to survive the cold weather that was slowly changing the air, and some colourful fluffy socks she grabbed just for Klaus

humming to herself lightly she glanced around the room once more, her eyes catching a shiny silver blade hidden behind an old wooden cupboard,

stepping over cardboard boxes she made her way over, excitement grew in her chest as she saw what she recognized as a katana with a sheath muttering

out a small 'fuck yeah' she picking it up effortlessly, while admiring the dragon patterning along the sheath, pulling out the blade her nerves pricked at the slicing noise it made, reading the words that were engraved on the katana, her large smile fell into a soft one

'protect your love'

turning the blade over to see the other side she saw an engraving of a lion, its mouth stretched out in a roar, she almost laughed at the irony, but the faint sound of crashing interrupted her

"Bellamy?" she called out running to the door of the basement, her backpack and sword in hand, hearing no verbal reply, and only grunts and crashing, she ran down the stairs, her boots creating a loud banging noise, coming to the first bedroom, she heard a shuffling noise, praying for it to be Bellamy she glanced in it quickly, only to find a walker marching towards her, letting out a yelp of surprise she raised her sword above her head and sliced its neck

the sword cut easily, but much to the girl's disappointment she wasn't close enough to cut its head fully off, she had only managed to cut it half off, and now had to watch the creature stumble towards her with its head hanging backward, much like one of the ghosts from the Harry Potter book she had read so long ago

still hearing Bellamy struggling in the distance the girl raised her sword again and this time sliced the head clean off making it fall to the ground in a loud splat, groaning quietly she shut the door the walker was in and continued on

her breathing was loud and ragged as she made her way down the hallway, but the exasperating sound was soon cut short when she watched two walkers come out of the parents' bedroom, she had no time to question how exactly these walkers got in and instead kicked the walker closest to her to the ground, giving her the opportunity to see at least four other walkers in the bedroom, reaching over and shutting the door so they couldn't get out, she turned around to deal with the other two making their way for her

the one on the ground was already grabbing her ankle while the other was reaching for her face, gripping her sword she pushed it down towards the ground, the force itself was so strong the blade went through the walkers head and into the floorboards of the ground

as she attempted to pull blade out of the wooden floor, her heart beat picked up into a rapid pacing, the walker was so close to her face she could smell its rotting flesh and feel the saliva and blood hit her face as it snapped its rotting jaw at her, letting go of the katarna that was stuck in the ground she grabbed it by the shoulders and ran forwards towards the other wall

slamming the walker's body into the wall she heard the familiar crunch of broken bones, letting out a loud grunt of effort and gritting her teeth she threw the walker to the ground and brought her foot up before stomping her boot into its head, causing her foot to sink into the disgusting crushed skull, pulling her foot out she took a few deep breathes to regain her composure and jogged towards the Katarna, and using all her leftover effort she finally managed to pull the sword out

as she listened for the sound of Bellamy, her ears once again picked up the sound of crashing, she wasn't sure if it had even stopped since the first time she heard it, finally getting to the end of the stairs where the kitchen and loungeroom was her eyes widened at the scene, Bellamy was standing on the kitchen counter, a large chair in hand as he tried to fight off the many walkers trying to get to him, he looked frantic and helpless, a state she had never seen him in before
