Falling in love~ (Stolitz)-(Smut, fluff, & maybe angst)

~Our Nest~

A/N HIEEEEE! I'm not back (yet) Srry for hyping y'all up..But I REALLY wanted to post some stolitz stuff, ESPECIALLY on Valentine's Day. Hope you guys like it!

Stolas returned to the palace after he'd finished his royal duties, yawning and ready to climb into his nice comfy bed for a good night's sleep. Only, when he opened the door to his bedroom, he found his bed completely bare. No duvet, no pillows, no cushions or blankets.

"Huh, that's new," he cocked his head, "Where did everything go? Was there a break in? No, better yet, who would break into my house just to steal my bedding?"

He stood there puzzling it out for a few moments, studying the scene. Until he caught sight of a blurry little red figure scurrying past from the corner of his eye.

"Hm? Blitzy?"

He followed the figure out of the room and down the hallway. Trailing after them down the stairs and watching an imp tail disappear into the living room. So it was Blitz, that was for sure. But what in Satan's name was he doing with one of his cushions?

Hm, curiouser and curiouser, he thought as he followed the imp's trail. Perhaps this was some new kind of imp behaviour he hadn't come across yet. First though, he had to find out what Blitz was up to.so he engaged his stealth mode and crept after the imp on silent hunter's talons.

The room didn't seem out of the ordinary. In fact, nothing seemed out of place at all. But Stolas could sense Blitz nearby, so he began investigating. He quickly found Blitz behind the sofa by the radiator. Curled up on a nest made of all his blankets, pillows, and cushions. The imp was snuggled under his duvet and wearing his favourite red dressing gown over his t-shirt and baggy sweatpants. Snoring softly. And Stolas' heart just warmed seeing his Blitzy looking so relaxed and comfortable. So much so he had to take a quick picture on his phone. Just one more for the steadily growing collection of cute Blitz photos.

Picture taken, he decided it best not to disturb the sleeping imp. It'd been a tough week for I.M.P. and Blitz barely got enough sleep as it was. So Stolas retreated back upstairs to the library. He had a behaviour book to consult, after all.

Pulling the book off the shelf, Stolas read. Scanning the pages in search of any mentions of nests or nesting. The book hadn't let him down before, and the authors seemed to know what they were talking about, so he had high hopes this would all be explained in language he could understand.

"Hm, let's see here," he murmured to himself as he turned the pages, "Courtship, grooming, offspring... ah, here we go, nesting."

He began to read in earnest. "Imps like to be comfortable, as we all do. And while the urge to make nests may be a residual instinct from their time in the wild, it still has practical implications today. Imps will make themselves and their pack a nest as a place to sleep, reinforce social bonds, spend intimate time with their chosen mate, and generally get some rest. It should be noted that imps will only build nests in an environment they feel secure in and in company they feel safe around."

Stolas lowered the book onto his lap. "Hm. Very interesting. Wait, does this mean Blitzy feels safe around me to nest here? It must! I mean, that's what the book says."

The idea slowly sank in as he sat there. Blitz feels safe with me? Of course, he knew Blitz felt safe enough to stay the night and let his guard down around him enough to be himself. But to feel safe enough to build a nest? A safe space within a place he felt secure? That was something really special.

Grinning like a lunatic and hugging the book to his chest, Stolas gave a giddy laugh and decided to venture back downstairs to see Blitz again. Perhaps he could even persuade the imp to let him share said nest.
