On the morning of the funeral Jade wakes up with a sick feeling in her stomach.
She gets out her best black dress and shoes. She lines them up on her bed and goes to have a shower.
She does her hair up nicely, and gets dressed and waits for her dad in the car. They drive in silence. When they get out of the car there are heaps of crying people outside the church. They walk inside and find a seat. The priest talks for a while and then invites Noah's dad to say a few words.
"Thank you all for being here. As you know, Noah is our oldest son. We have lost both our boys but we trust God will look after them. Noah was a fiery boy. We never got along but I loved him with all my heart."
He starts crying. So does Mrs. Johnson.
Jade starts crying too. She tries to be silent.
Her father grabs her heart and squeezes it.
After the funeral everyone is outside to commiserate their losses."Thanks for coming Jade." Says Kate.
"It's okay... I'm sorry for your loss."
"I'm sorry too. Jade, I need to ask you, why did you and Noah run away?"
"Oh... Well Noah and his father had a fight and wanted to leave him for a while and I went because my father doesn't speak to me since my mum died. I'm sorry. It was stupid. He wouldn't have been if we stayed."
"Thank you for telling me. I wish I was in his life more. Don't be sorry. He was impulsive. He would've gone with or without you."
"I'm sorry Jade. I'm going to be in your life more too." Apologizes Jade's father.
"It's alright dad."
"Here you go dear. It's the thing you wanted to give to Jade." Mr. Johnson says to Mrs. Johnson.
"Oh right. Noah wrote a letter a while ago and we found it. It's for you."
