I jumped up checking my phone and half covering my body to see Jacob texted me back an hour ago telling me he would be back now.
"Are you just going to stand there or can you turn around so I can go change?" I grunted getting up from the ground.
"No invite?" He said clicking his tongue.
"I didn't get an invite with you today, so no," I said getting up while still trying to keep some modesty.
"You're a little red," He said looking at my chest.
"Oh, whatever," I swatted him away.
"Cold water will take the sting right out," He smiled devilishly.
"Don't even think about it," I warned holding my hand up to distance myself from what I thought he was about to do.
"Okay, go ahead," Jacob said stepping out of the way so I could walk back inside to clean up. As soon as I reached the door with my back to him, I felt hands wrap around my waist and pull me forcibly. A yelp escaped my lips before he hoisted me in his arms above the pool. I pinched my nose, ready for impact. As he threw me into the cold water, my open hand kept a tight grip on his arm. Jacob and I fell with a big splash into the cold pool water.
We both returned to the surface, gasping for a breath. I laughed as he stood before me in a soaked suit and messy hair. His expression less amused than before.
"I told you not to. Karma got your ass," I gloated as I swam to the edge.
He rolled his eyes as he lifted himself out of the pool and on the ledge. Each piece of his suit flopped to the ground until he stood before me in just his undergarments, his tight black briefs uneven on his thighs. The light of the city cascaded over one side of his body through the glass balcony.
"Watch out!" He yelled as he jumped right back in, splashing everything in sight. I wouldn't be surprised if the casual strollers down below thought it started to rain without a single cloud in the sky. Jacob didn't surface right away. I watched his shadow circle my legs. It was honestly terrifying. A hand grabbed my leg, pulling me under. My eyes burned as they opened and filled with the chlorine treated pool. A smile swiped across his face as he held me under, knowing he had successfully scared me. I fought tirelessly out of his grip.
"Are you trying to drown me?" I said between breaths, a little flustered.
"Relax. It's just a little bit of fun."
"It'll be real fun dragging the pool for my body."
"How was your day?" He asked swimming closer to my small bench in the water, treading in front of me.
"It was great actually. I went to the Dream House for a couple hours," I informed him. "You ruined my zen."
"You don't want zen from there, anyway. It's fucking weird," He said jumping up onto the submerged side bench with me.
"Well I liked it," I said crossing my arms. The wind making goosebumps form across my body.
"So I was thinking..." He paused to push my wet hair off my shoulder, causing a shudder down my spine. "I have reservations for dinner tonight if you'd like to join."
"Who else is going?" I asked, waiting for him to mention Barry being in town.
"Just a couple people. It's a small celebratory dinner," He said tracing circles on my shoulder. His sudden touchiness telling me everything I needed to know about how his meeting went today.
"Do I have a choice?" I asked, already exhausted of the plethora of men he works with.
"Nope."
I sighed, standing up out of the water and shaking off the excess on his face.
