"are you really gonna kill scott if he doesn't find the bullet?" stiles asked.

"probably. if i find out he didn't actually try, then yes." aurora calmly replied.

the three soon arrived at the animal clinic. stiles unlocked one of the shutters and they walked into the clinic. derek crashed down into some bags of dog food.

"does nordic blue monkshood mean anything to you?" stiles asked after receiving a text from scott.

derek and aurora both looked at each other. "it's a rare form of wolfsbane." aurora replied.

"he has to bring me the bullet." derek said.

"why?" stiles asked.

"because i'm gonna die without it."

...

"tell scott to hurry his ass up." aurora told stiles.

"i have!" stiles ran his hand over his buzzed hair. "like a million times!"

aurora glanced at derek. "we need to get him inside, scott's taking too long." she told stiles as she threw her brother's arm over her shoulder and walked into the main part of the animal clinic.

stiles turned on the lights and derek took off his shirt and almost fell into one of the metal tables. the wound was worse, purple veins were all over his arm and some blood was smeared down his arm.

"you know, that really doesn't look like anything some echinacea and a good night's sleep couldn't take care of." stiles told derek, making aurora shoot him a look.

"when the infection reaches my heart, it'll kill me." derek weakly spoke, he was breathing heavily as he walked over to one of the cupboards.

"positivity just isn't in your vocabulary, is it?" stiles sarcastically asked.

"you try being a werewolf and get shot with a wolfsbane bullet, stiles. there isn't really much room for positivity when you're more likely to die than live!" aurora yelled at the boy.

she had no idea if derek would make it or not, she'd be alone. all of her family would be dead.

"if he doesn't get here with the bullet in time, last resort..." derek breathed out, searching the drawers.

"which is?" stiles asked.

derek pulled out some sort of saw and held it up. "one of you is going to cut off my arm."

stiles stared at derek, then looked at aurora.

...

derek slid the saw over to stiles, he turned it on for a few seconds, and immediately put it back down. "oh, my god! what if you bleed to death?" he asked.

derek was tying a tourniquet around his bicep. "it'll heal if it works." derek said, his voice muffled.

"ugh." stiles turned his head and then looked back at derek and aurora. "look, i don't know if i can do this."

"why not?" derek asked in annoyance. "i'm not gonna make my little sister do it."

"well, because of the cutting through flesh, the sawing of the bone, and especially the blood!"
