❝ I don't need the world to see that I've been the best I can be. ❞

A male sat alone in the dark. How many years has it been since he has been in isolation? Alone in the dark? He gave up counting a long time ago, it didn't matter anyway. A loud creak from the floorboards pulled away from his thoughts, he snapped his head towards the maker of the noise, only to be met with nothing.
In the corner of his eye, he could see a flash of orange dart across the room. "Who goes there?" His voice resonated in the "empty" shack.
He drew his weapon out, oh how long it had been since he felt the sensation of the grip of his blade on his fingertips? His eyes narrowed as he darted his head around to find the source of the ruckus.
A loud creak of the old floorboards bounced off the walls. In a flash, he whipped his body around and chucked his blade at the intruder. The mysterious being was fortunate enough to dodge the attack (just barely), the blade whizzed past them and embedded itself in the wall.
"Geez! Calm down bud! I ain't here to hurt you," The invader exclaimed defensively. He put his hands up to show he had no weapon in his hands.
M/n eased up slightly but still kept his guard up, "Reveal yourself, intruder." The invader walked out of the shadows to reveal himself as a ginger Monkey.
His golden eyes shimmered even if there wasn't any light in the worn-down shack. They had a mesmerizing glow that made it hard to look away from. His ginger fur cast a beautiful shade of orange, making it look as if it held some sort of warmth like the sun on a hot day. It oddly resembled a flame, fiery and fierce but warm and gentle.
On the top of his head was a neatly wrapped yellow bonnet with a tightly tied pale blue bow. He had a turquoise neckerchief that laid across his shoulders and a yellow long-sleeved robe with a black trim.
"I'm Sun-"
"I know who you are, Sun Wukong" He hissed, his fierce eyes pierced into his soul, "You don't make yourself that well hidden."
"Well then," He sighed before shifting the subject, "who are you?" Wukong asked eagerly.
"I'm The Baihu Zhanshi, the protector-" He was cut off by the ginger monkey's groan.
"No, no! I already know your title and what you're about. I'm asking who are you?" He was taken aback by Wukong's boldness. He wasn't expecting an answer like that, especially from The Great Sun Wukong.
The male stood in silence for a few seconds before speaking up "I'm M/n L/n. Just call me M/n though... and this... this is my home."
"M/n..." The Simian whispered to himself before his lips pulled themselves into a grin. "Now that's more like it!"
"Your hand." The male pointed towards Wukong's scuffed-up hand, "What happened to it?"
"Oh, this?" He asked, bringing his hand out into the light to be seen more clearly. "I'm not sure, to be honest..." He chuckled. The (H/c)'d male walked closer to Wukong and grabbed his hand for closer inspection. A soft hum escaped his throat as he looked at the wound, he rubbed his thumb over it. He was met with the sound of a wince from Wukong.
"Come." He commanded as he began to walk off towards a different room with Wukong following behind him like a lost puppy. The male pulled up a chair. To which Wukong eagerly sat down, "Stay here, I'll be back."
A few minutes later the sound of footsteps followed along with the creeks of the old boards on the ground indicating he was back. He set the stuff down on the ground and kneeled in front of the Monkey.
He began working on his hand as Wukong observed eagerly. "Woah, you must be good at this kind of thing, huh?" Wukong said only to be answered with a hum. He continued to watch over M/n until he was finished. "Thank you, M/n."
He began putting stuff away and Wukong looked at the bandaging on his hand, feeling slightly guilty. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked over at M/n as he was putting away the supplies. "You know, you didn't need to do that for me..."
"Don't feel guilty. I wanted to do it anyway." He seemed to be pretty good at reading people's emotions.
"I- but still... Is there something I could do to repay you?"
"Please, don't feel obligated to repay me for doing something so simple–"
"Too late I already have an idea!" Wukong hopped out of the seat energetically. In response, he got an annoyed sigh while he giggled happily. "I've decided I'll pay you a visit every day from now on!"
"That's nice of you and all, but I don't need you to visit me every day..." M/n retaliated.
"I'm not taking no for an answer! My mind has already been made up!" He placed his hands on his hips confidently and he puffed his chest out. Wukong turned on his heel to face M/n, a huge grin spread across his face. "Well anyway! I have to get going, thank you again M/n, I'll see you again, buh-bai!"
Just like that, Wukong hopped onto a magical cloud and flew off into the night sky. For a split second, he looked like a star in the sky before twinkling away. M/n felt his lips spread into a small smile before shaking his head.
