"HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS EVEN HAPPEN!?"

"I DON'T KNOW, I'M SORRY!"

Now you, dear readers, may wonder what the hell is happening. No worries, I don't think M/n knows either. All he knows is that Mei's kitchen is engulfed in blazing maroon flames.

You (M/n) could feel the warm, undistinguishable, flames against your rough skin. The fire crackled furiously as things around the flames began to melt under the intense heat. Say goodbye to the fancy Tupperware Mei's flame bought and the fine china plates that probably cost a bajillion dollars.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so fucked. My parents are going to kill me!" Mei cried out as she watched her kitchen become a massive campfire.

You frantically rushed around the house trying to find something to put out the flames, Mei on the other hand was trying to figure out ways to escape her parent's wrath once they got home. Maybe she'll run away and take on a new identity...yeah, great idea! That's it, she'll run off to America and start her new life as Mari Chen!

Mei was pulled away from her thoughts when she heard your frustrated screams echo down one of her endless hallways her parents for some reason had, "HOW DO YOU HAVE THOUSANDS OF ANCIENT ARTIFACTS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND LONGER THAN I HAVE, YET NONE OF THEM ARE HELPFUL ENOUGH TO PUT OUT A SIMPLE FIRE!?"

"I DON'T KNOW, ASK MY GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT, THOUSAND TIMES GREAT GRANDFATHERS!" Mei shouted back.

You sprinted back to the kitchen, your hands empty and all you were left with was shame and pity for Mei. Who knew trying to roast marshmallows would cause a whole museum to burn down? (Museum being Mei's giant ass house).

Mei groaned in defeat, she melted onto the ground as her hands hid her face as the flames continued to crackle in front of you both, "What am I gonna dOoOo...~" She groaned, her voice muffled due to her face being stuffed into her hands.

You pondered silently, your brows furrowed as you tried to think up an idea. You gasped once something popped up.

"The Samadhi Fire is a flame that is indistinguishable, no amount of water from the heavens or earth will be able to put out the flames." You stated, Mei looked up at you with a confused look on her face. Before she is about to gibber at you, you push a finger to her face to silence her, "However, there is one person that can put out the flames."

Mei's eyes widen, her mouth agape as she stumbles towards your face. She brought her face close to yours, making both of your noses touch for how close you both were. You could feel a slight blush creep onto your cheeks due to not being used to such close contact, "Really, who!? Tell me now, M/n!"

You stayed silent for a few moments to build suspense, you inhaled deeply, "The person who is capable of distinguishing the ferocious flames of the Samadhi fire is..." Mei inches slightly closer, her nails digging into her palms, "The wielder. A.K.A, you."

"Wait what."

"You heard me. You're able to control the flames better than anyone else, if you're able to set a fire, then you're able to put it out." Mei looked at you in confusion, you grumbled before continuing, "Pull the Samadhi fire back to your soul, the core of the power, you."

She sang out a small 'Ohhhh' white nodding her head slowly. She looked back at the roaring flames, he inhaled and pressed her hands close to her chest. She squeezed her eyes shut and began to focus on the flames.

You observed her actions, she pushed her hands out and circled her palms around the flames until both of her hands were touching, her fingertips barely touching the flames as she tried to pull the flames back to her soul.

To your predictions, it was succeeding. The flames began to minimize in both intensity and size, and a smile spread across your face. See, things would go just right if people would listen to your advice and ideas instead of–

The flames quickly regained back in size and rage, this time angrier than before. God damnit, why can't things just go your way for once?

You looked back at Mei and noticed her face was scrunched up in discomfort, slick sweat ran down her temples as she desperately tried to control the flames. She stumbled backward, her eyes wide and bewildered, she breathed heavily as her hands shook rapidly.

You caught her by her shoulders, allowing her to ease into your arms, "I-I can't do it! M/n I can't do it, I'm sorry I tried, I really did try–"

"Shh, shh, It's okay, mortal." You murmured gently, you stoked your fingertips against her cheek to try and calm her down. Tears threatened to spill from her sockets as her fingers trembled.

"Every time I try to use the Samadhi fire, I see visions of LBD. I see her hurting MK, Red Boy, and everyone! I see her hurting all my friends, I can hear voices whispering to me, telling me that I'll end up hurting you all if I try to use the fire." She admitted, her voice cracked as she choked down her sobs.

You furrowed your brow, and you traced her thumb around her cheek, "Listen closely to my words, the only way you'll hurt people with the fire is if you allow her to keep on telling you that. No matter what, there will always be a voice telling you that your power is dangerous and you'll hurt the people around you, but you're more than that, Mortal. You're not a weapon, you are the wielder and you control the flames, not LDB, not MK, not me, but you."

Mei blinked up at you in silence, probably to process the long-winded sentence you stated. A bright grin spread across her cheeks and she whipped the tears from her eyes, "Yeah, you're right." She hopped out of your arms and stood against the flames once more.

Once again, Mei began the ritual and repeated the same motion. She inhaled deeply as she began to pull the flames back into her core. Her hands trembled slightly as her face began to scrunch up. However, she pushed through the turmoil.

With a rotation of her wrist, she was able to pull the flames back into her soul, a flash of bright light filled the room as fast as it faded. Now in front of you was a severely burnt kitchen, pieces of wood crumbled down onto the floor as black soot crawled up the walls and covered the once pearly white marble floor.

Mei cheered happily "Heck yeah! I did it!" She rushed over to you and pulled you into a big hug. You stiffened, expecting her to hug you. You gently patted her back as you were uncomfortably squished into a hug. Mei pulled back and clung her nails to your shoulders, "Thank you, M/n."

"No problem." You sheepishly looked away, trying to hide the small blush that dusted your cheeks.

Mei moved away slightly and held out her fist, "We make a great team." A bright grin went from ear to ear on her face as she eagerly hung out her fist.

You chuckled at her childish antics. You bumped your knuckles against her own, "Yeah, we do." You looked back at the scorched kitchen, "Does this team include helping each other clean up a burnt kitchen?"

"You betcha!"

Just as you and Mei were about to begin to clean up the mess, you both heard the sound of the front door opening, "Mei, we're home!" An older women's voice rang out.

You and Mei glanced back at each other in horror, "Fuck"
