Wukong groaned in disappointment, "I wish I could use my staff..."
"I'm glad you can't use your staff, it just makes the fight more fair." You scoffed.
You and Wukong promised to draw against each other a few months ago to see who's the stronger fighter. You couldn't back out, not because you didn't want to be seen as a coward– you couldn't care less if Wukong thought you were pusillanimous (You do care). It was because it was a "pinkie promise."
Somehow, a small gesture of hooking your pinkie around the other person's pinkie while proceeding to voice your vow creates a stricter bond around the promise (By Wukong's standards anyway..)
During the duration after the LBD massacre, Wukong has been persistently reminding you about the "pInKiE pRoMiSe" you had unknowingly made. You didn't realize he'd be so dead set on it until now.
Yet again, he did have a "plan" to try and sacrifice himself after the Samadhi Fire had been activated, so maybe he didn't care all that much. He was most likely bored, what was he going to do anyway? Continue training MK? MK is getting stronger, he needs to be just slightly stronger than MK to be his mentor after all, and who's no better than you as an opponent?
So here you both were, standing across from each other. Large mountain ranges poked through the morning dew, and a cold breeze blew past you both.
In classic nature, Wukong lurched forward. You dodged his attack and grabbed him by the back of his cape, with (almost) all of your might, you flung him backward. He landed on a nearby rock, his feet slamming against the rough surface.
He smirked, "Playing dirty?" He ripped pieces of hair from his scalp and threw the strands into the air. His hair strands swiftly transformed into multiple clones of himself.
Your eye twitched in irritation, "Why do you have to be overpowered..."
The clones plummeted down towards you, you tried your best to dodge each one of their attacks. With your claws. You swiped them across each one of the clone's chests, causing them to explode into golden clouds.
Once you eliminated each one, you were left with a few scrapes. Wukong appeared behind you and swiftly whacked his foot against your temples. Due to the force, you slid across the rocky pavement. You hissed bitterly, you swung yourself back up as soon as you stopped sliding, you transformed into your tiger form and lunged towards Wukong.
He switched his form to gorilla and launched himself back towards you. You both began to send a spiral of different attacks towards each other. Eventually, you shifted back into your human form and swung your foot up into Wukong's stomach, causing him to shift back to his natural body.
He shifted his body around in the air to get balance once more, he looked down at the ground as he tried to detect where you were. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as he observed from above.
"Where is he?" He grumbled under his breath as he tried to find where you were.
You lightly tapped his shoulder, spooking him, "Right here." You slammed both of your fists onto his back, causing him to plummet to the ground.
You quickly followed and landed right beside him, he hastily got back onto his feet and began to rapidly send attacks towards you, you responded with a few blocks and a few blocks with yourself.
The playful duel went on for quite a bit until finally both of you were too tired to move another inch. You both simultaneously slumped onto the ground, heaving heavily. Slick sweat ran down your face alongside Wukong. How long had it been of you both just fighting? 2 hours? Time flies by fast when you're immortal.
(2 HOURS SOUNDS UNREASONABLE BUT IN THE OG BOOKS FOR JTTW WUKOMNG AND HIS OPPONENTS WOULD FIGHT FOR HOURS)
Wukomg was the first to say, "I'm famished. I could go for peach ships right about now..." He sighed.
"Pigsy's noodles sound exquisite right now..." You painted.
"Exquisite?" Wukong chortled.
"Shut up. I'm tired...and hungry...and thirsty..." You complained.
Wukong smirked, "You do realize, you don't need to eat or do all of that stuff, right?"
"So? Doesn't stop me from feeling hunger or thirst." You glared back.
Wukong playfully rolled his eyes and swatted you with the back of his hand, you hissed back in response. He chuckled at your reaction and pulled out a bag of chips from a random nearby rock.
You cocked your eyebrow, "Do you keep chips laying around the mountain...?"
"Yep!" He popped a chip in his mouth, you watched his face soften up and a bright grin spread across his face, "Ugh, so good!"
You shook your head playfully and looked out the landscape, soft pink clouds covered the sky as an orange hue bounced off the sun and into the sky. Various mountains stuck through the sun as it set through the slight fog.
This would've been amazing if Wukong wasn't loudly munching on his chips beside you... Thought you were pretty hungry.
You forcefully shoved your hand into the bag of chips and quickly stuffed whatever you pulled out from the bag into your mouth. You could taste the sweet but slightly tart flavors covering your tongue...were these peach...chips?
You furrowed your brow and looked over at Wukong, "How do you acquire peach chips?"
"Secret." He giggled and continued to munch on his chips. You shrugged and shared the bag with him, you'll take what you can get, "I thought you were gonna have Pigsy's noodles?" Wukong reminded you.
"1. Too far right now. 2. He's probably closing the shop up, I don't want to be a burden."
"Fair enough." You and Wukong continued to munch down on the shared bag of chips while watching the sunset in silence. It was peaceful, you hadn't been able to feel this calm in a while. Usually you pent up with whatever recent event had happened, either anger, sadness, hatred, regret, etc.
Anger was usually the common emotion you felt, though you tried your best to hide it. No matter what, you'll always feel a lingering hatred, maybe you were just born to hate, or you were made to hate.
You hated your past, you hated how you couldn't be a normal kid, you hated how you weren't able to grow up normally, you hated how you felt like you'd hurt everyone around you, you hated how you felt like a failure, you hated how you couldn't do anything right, you hated how you hate. You hated yourself.
You shook your head, no not here. This was the first time in a while since you felt so peaceful, you're not going to let this moment slip by. You sighed gently and focused your attention back on eating and watching the sunset.
However, you know deep down you'll always feel anger and hatred, no matter how hard you try to push the emotions down.
