Drowning no more.

For Callum.

Waves washed over me one after the other. The current too strong to fight against.
The seabed full of sand sucking me in.
The weeds and coral keeping me trapped.
I didn't see the sun, nor a rescue boat, nor an escape.
I closed my heavy eyes and accepted fate.

Then, he found me.
Piece by piece he used his foot to break away the coral and the weeds.
Used his hands to dig me up out of the sandy seabed.
Used his strength to swim us up to the surface.
Used his love to bring me back.

My eyes opened, I saw the sun once more.
I smiled at him and he kissed me back to life.
His hands held my body like porcelain.
His warmth melted the cold I felt within.
He brought me back from the endless depths of the ocean, and now I am drowning no more.
