Happy To Be Home

Sounds of laughter, joy, and cheer
Fill the void around me
As I open my eyes and door too
All thoughts of sadness and despair evaporate

The beige walls that a younger me thought were sickly
Make me smile now
And the grey carpet that caresses my foot
Couldn't be more comforting than it was in this moment

The suns that shines through the mucky glass windows
Could never compare to the warmth I get from my mother's embrace
And the baby bird that insists on chirping ever so loudly won't ever compare to how loud my baby brother insists on telling me every small detail of his dreams

Scents that make me happy
Sounds that make me smile
People that make me feel loved
And a family that make me happy to be home :)
