Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day to my grandma and nana, the women who stepped in for my mum when she had errands to run or needed a break from me. The women who taught me to be myself and love myself for it. The women who taught me that beauty is forever, and that I'll always be a star in their eyes.

Happy Mother's Day to my aunts, the women who taught me that they'll fight tooth and nail to see me smile. The women that taught me what it means to have a family. The women that never let me miss out on anything and always made me feel welcome.

Happy Mother's Day to my cousins. The women that taught me what having best friends was before I even knew. The women that taught me how to first do my makeup at sleepovers and braided my hair really neat. The women that taught me girlhood and always had my back.

Happy Mother's Day to my teachers. The women that taught me maths, science and English. The women that taught me my love for reading. The women that taught me how smart I am under the surface.

Happy Mother's Day to my sisters. The girls who taught me how to be a 'mother'. The girls who taught me how to care for others. The girls who taught me to love being an older sister and how to one day hopefully raise girls of my own.

And of course, Happy Mother's Day to my mother. The woman that raised me from birth, made sure I grew up feeling loved and safe. The woman that made me feel beautiful inside and out. The woman that was the first person to ever hold me in her arms. The woman who taught me everything I know. She taught me beauty, she taught me intelligence and wisdom. She taught me love. I used to watch my mother as a child and tell myself I wanted to be just like her. I now know that would be impossible, for there is no woman on earth quite as perfect as my mother, Natalie.
