Chapter Twenty Four
Lead Up to Harvestfest
Season 1, Episode 5
"There's nothing more I want then to be with you."
====================================The Kent family were out front getting the corn ready for the harvestfest.
"The Harvest Fest?" Jordan asks.
"So, is that why you have been Supermanning all week? So you free up some time to go to this?" Jade asks.
"It's a tradition." Clark says. "Goes all the way back to 1949, when Smallville was established. It's one of the best things about being here."
"I've been hearing about this from your dad since we first started dating." Lois adds.
"Bedtime stories to help you sleep, or what?" Jonathan asks.
"Either way, it doesn't sound much like a festival." Jordan says. "Just sounds like a whole bunch of people selling stuff."
"Not just sell. Share. You know, anything they can, with anyone who needs it." Clark says.
"Think of it was Smallville's version of Burning Man." Lois says.
"Minus the fires and the BO, I hope." Jade says.
"Ha ha, look, your grandmother loved it, okay? She use to spend weeks planning what we were going to donate." Clark tells them. "She made lists spreadsheets."
"Your dad learnt a lot about giving and helping people in need from this. Your dad's not Superman just cos he has powers you know." Lois tells them.
"Thanks, baby." Clark says, kissing Lois cheek. "Look, I know you guys aren't sold, but when you see everyone come together like this, the sense of community, it's the best of what Smallville is."
"It just doesn't sound like much of a festival." Jordan says.
"Well, they have all that stuff too. The food stands alone- funnel cakes fried cheese curds. Ooh, the fishers! Every year they have this sugar bowl stand. They make chocolate bacon. So good!"
"Uh, Eliza's vegetarian, so..." Jonathan starts.
"Oh." Clark says.
"Hey, I'm glad she's finally able to come visit." Lois says.
"She won't be staying long after Jonathan breaks up with her." Jade says.
"You're still set on being with Amelia?" Clark asks.
"Yeah." Jonathan says, looking down with a small smile. "I think I love her, dad."
"Oh, ho." Clark says, clapping his hands together.
"Do whatever makes you happy, Jon. But try not to hurt Eliza too much. She's a sweet girl." Lois says.
"I know. I won't." Jonathan says.
"But the Harvest Festival is special, okay? Eliza's gonna love it, your gonna love it. You are all gonna love it." Clark tells them. "Let's go! Corn! Let's go!"
"We're gonna love it." Lois repeats.~~~~~
Amelia and Sarah came out of a room, boxes of stuff for harvest fest in their hands, as the Kent siblings walk past.
"Hey." Jonathan says, wrapping his arm around Amelia's shoulders as she places the box on the table. "Hey Sarah."
"Hey." Sarah replies.
"Hey you." Amelia says, turning to Jonathan and kissing him.
Jonathan kisses her back before moving her hand so they were walking down the corridor walking hand in hand.
"Wow, they really go all out with this harvest fest." Jonathan says.
"I know it's kind of hoky, but it has its own kind of specialness." Amelia says.
"You sound like our dad." Jordan says, causing Amelia to use her free hand to push him lightly.
"Shut up." Amelia says laughing.
"Uhm you guys going tonight?" Sarah asks.
"Yeah, uh, actually Eliza's going to." Jade says, causing Amelia to tense slightly.
"Only so I can end things with her." Jonathan whispers to the blonde, feeling her grip on his hand tighten.
"What about you? Do you maybe want to go together?" Sarah asks Jordan.
"You mean from like beginning to end?" Jordan asks.
"That is how I understand the concept of together." Sarah says.
"Uhm, Sarah, let me just speak for my brother here. He would love to go with you." Jonathan says, stepping next to Jordan and patting him on the shoulder.
"Yeah, no, no. I would love to go." Jordan says, as Jonathan walks back to his locker.
"Great. We'll meet up before hand?" Sarah asks.
"For sure, yeah. I'll text you when Eliza's coming." Jonathan tells her.
Sarah then leaves, Jade going with her. Amelia was waiting for Jonathan as they had world history together. As Jonathan was grabbing his book his phone goes off. Jonathan checks it before showing Amelia the phone and the blonde saw Eliza's ID.
"This means nothing, I promise." Jonathan says, kissing Amelia's cheek before turning away.
"Hey, babe. What's up?" Jonathan says, causing Amelia to sigh as she leans against the lockers. "What- what are you talking about? Hey, hey Eliza. Can we please just talk about this. Okay, whatever. Yeah bye."
"That didn't sound good." Jordan says, as Jonathan hangs up the phone.
"It's great. Great. If you consider getting dumped by your girlfriend for over a year the night your suppose to see her great." Jonathan says.
"Oh man, that sucks." Jordan says.
"All good. Welcome to Smallville. The place where you get dumped over the phone." Jonathan says sarcastically.
"Jonathan." Amelia says.
"At least I was willing to wait until I saw her to break up." Jonathan says, before sighing and turning to Amelia, placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay." Amelia tells him
"No it's not. You have been looking forward to us finally being together and I'm now upset about my girlfriend breaking up with me." Jonathan says.
"It's okay, Jon. I promise." Amelia says. "If you need time I am okay with it. I promise."
"There's nothing more I want then to be with you." Jonathan tells her, taking both her hands in his.
"But..." Amelia says trailing off, sensing what was coming.
"I just need a day to get my head around it all." Jonathan says.
Amelia smiles and nods understandingly. Jonathan smiles back, kissing her cheek before closing his locker and walking away. Amelia turns to watch him walk away.
"You okay?" Jordan asks.
"Yeah, yeah." Amelia says. "I'm all good. See you later."
Amelia readjusts the strap of her backpack which was resting on her shoulder, before walking past Jordan.
