Chapter Thirty Five Evolving Season 1, Episode 7 "Of course not. You're my boyfriend. I tell you everything." ====================================
Clark flies into the fortress, Jade still in his arms. She had stopped convulsing, but she was unconscious. As Clark lays her on the floor, she wakes up, hearing multiple different sounds, and voices, as the ringing continues. "The quiet in here should help." Clark tells him. Slowly all the sounds fade and the ringing stops. After seeing Jade was okay, Clark speeds over to talk to his father. "I think Jade's hearing kicked in." Clark says, as a hologram of Jade appears, her brain highlighted red. "Yes, her mechanosnesations have become significantly enhanced." His father tells him. "How do we stop the pain?" Clark asks. "Her auditory preception's causing an allodynic response. Until she can control what she hears, ever sound will be accompanied by pain." Hsis father says. "I have to help her." Clark says, looking at Jade, then back to the hologram. "Teach her to focus. Share what you know." His father tells him. "But it will take much practice on her part, the same as it did for you, Kal-el."

Jade was sat on the couch in the living room, as she puts her earphones in. "How long until the super hearing levels out?" Lois asks, as Jonathan wraps an arm around Jade's shoulder. "My father said he has to adapt on his own." Clark answers, as Jade rests her head on Jonathan's shoulder snuggling into his side. "How long were you out of commission for?" Jonathan asks, protectively holding Jade in his arms as she closes her eyes. "A couple weeks." Clark answers. "So let me guess, we have to come up with a BS reason why she isn't in school?" Jordan asks. "I'll call Principal Balcomb in the morning, okay?" Lois says. "Jordan, I want to take you to the fortess this week. just for a check in." Clark tells him, causing Jordan to nod. "You three should get to bed." Lois says. Jordan stands up, but Jade doesn't respond. "Jade." Clark says, before using his freeze breath, to blow cold air at Jade, causing her to look at him. "We'll work on this tomorrow." Jade nods, giving Lois a hug, before walking upstairs, her brothers following her.

The next morning, with her brothers at school, Jade found herself sat in the kitchen with her dad. Jade had her earphones in as she sat at the table. Clark then holds up a note 'Focus on ONE sound.' "You can do this." Clark reassures her. "It hurts." Jade says. "I know, but you're going to have to work through it." Clark tells her. "Okay. One sound at a time. Come on." Clark then walks over to the sink before looking back at Jade. Jade slowly stands up, taking a deep breath, before slowly removing her earphones. She stares at the tap which was now slowly dripping, trying to foucs on the sound. It was loud with mutliple noises for a second, before she only heard the tap. The sound of the water hitting the bottom of the sink causes her to flinch. The other noises start to come back, and the pain becomes to much, causing Jade to quickly put her earphones back in as she sits down. "I can't do it. I'm sorry>" Jade says, getting up and going to leave the kitchen. "Jade. Jade." Clark calls after her. "We'll just try tomorrow or something." Jade says, stopping in the doorway and looking at Clark before heading for her room.

When Clark went to pick up the boys from school, Jade had gone with him, needing to get a few things from her locker. The brunette kept her headphones in at all times, as she made her way to her locker. She puts her combination in, before opening. As the door swings open she cathes herself getting lost, staring at her reflection in the mirror. "Babe." Jade turns around to see Grayson. "H-Hey." Jade replies. "What are you doing here? Jonathan and Jordan told me you weren't well." Grayson says. "Had to get a few things from my locker." Jade says grabbing the books she needed. "My dad was coming to get Jon and Jordan so I came with." "Is there something your not telling me?" Grayson asks. "Of course not. You're my boyfriend. I tell you everything." Jade says. "I just feel like there's more then you are letting on." Grayson says. "I'm fine. I promise. Just as Jon and Jordan said. Not feeling very well. So I should probably get back to the car before I get everyone in the school sick." Jade says. "Jade, you know you can tell me if there was something more going on, right? I'm here for you." Grayson tells her, grabbing her hand. "I know." Jade says, with a small smile, before leaning up and kissing Grayson's cheek. "I'll see you in a couple days when I'm back at school." "I'll call you tonight and check in." Grayson tells her. Jade smiles and nods, before closing her locker and walking back to the exit.
