Chapter Twenty Three
It Was an Accident
Season 1, Episode 4
"When did life get so hetic?"
====================================

Jade was sat on her bed icing her face, Jordan had come in a few minutes ago upset and laid down on his sisters bed, his head face down on the pillow. Jonathan comes in knocking on the door, making his presence known.
"You good?" Jonathan asks.
"I'm good." Jade says, taking the ice off her cheek.
Jonathan sighs seeing the stae his brother was in.
"Jordan, what... What happened to Tag..." Jonathan says, sitting down next to Jade.
"Don't try to tell me it wasn't my fault." Jordan says, sitting up. "You saw the video. My hear vision, it gave Tag those powers."
"No, it's not how it works." Jade says, standing up and walking over to the mirror to check her cheek.
"Yeah, you don't know what." Jordan argues.
"You're right, I don't know how or why any of this is happening." Jade says, turning away from her mirror looking at the ceiling as she walks back over to the bed shaking her head a little. "But, I know what your going through."
"Hey, and to be honest, I've honestly been really jealous about all of it, and I'm sorry about that." Jonathan says.
"But, Jordan, look, I do know this. You would never hurt anyone, ever." Jade says gently, as she sits down and grabs her brother's hand. "So whatever happened it was an accident, okay? It was an accident."
Lois then appears in the doorway.
"Kids, can you come down. Your father and I want to talk to you." Lois tells them.
The three kids nod before following their mother down stairs.

Jade, Jonathan and Jordan were sat opposite their parents in the kitchen. Their grandfather making a coffee. No one had said a word in the five minutes they had all been sat there.
"So, where's Tag now?" Jade asks, breaking the awkward silence which had taken over the Kent family.
"He's with the doctors at the DOD." Clark answers.
"And apparently, they're taking really good care of him." Lois adds.
"Did they say I did this to him?" Jordan asks.
"I had a team analyse that cellphone footage. Your heat vision caused a blast, but there was another material present. A yellow phosphorescence. We think that may have triggered the boy's meta-human development." Sam explains to his grandson.
"Can we see him?" Jonathan asks.
"Well, son, DOD protocols are pretty strict." Sam says. "There's 24/7 monitoring, cover stories, transferring..."
"What your grandpa is trying to say is that he's gonna go to a special school for kids with these sorts of abilities." Lois explains.
"Wait there's a special school for kids with powers?" Jonathan asks. "That's pretty cool."
"No, it's not. How many of these kids are there?" Jade asks.
"That's classified, but let's just say..." Sam starts.
"Dad." Lois says, cutting him off as she shakes her head.
"Look, guys, we have to be clear on something. Why did you wait so long to use the ELT?" Clark asks. "Why didn't you call me the minute you knew something was wrong."
The three grandchildren then look towards their grandfather causing Clark and Lois to look in his direction as well.

While her brothers were in their rooms, Jade was stood in the doorway listening to her parents and granfather fighting. She lent her head against the doorway closing her eyes as a tear slips down her face.
"Hey." Jade opens her eyes to find Jonathan standing in the doorway to his room which was directly opposite hers. "You okay?"
"Never better." Jade says, with a small laugh.
Jonathan smiles softly walking over and hugging his sister, guiding them both into her room and closing the door.
"Talk to me." Jonathan tells her.
"When did life get so hetic?" Jade asks.
"When we found out dad was superman." Jonathan says, causing the pair to lightly laugh.
"How's Amelia? You know, after seeing what happened?" Jade asks.
"She didn't mention it. There's a lot of stuff going on at home with her at the moment." Jonathan answers.
"Like what?" Jade asks.
"Her parents are barely home. They've taken her sister up to Kent to see her grandparents but have left Lia home alone. I offered for her to come and stay here but she refused." Jonathan says.
"She can't be there alone. I'll talk to her. Try and convince her." Jade says.
"Thanks." Jonathan says.
"Hey, this may surprise you considering I don't like many people, but I like Amelia. She's nice." Jade says. "And she's good for you, unlike Eliza."
Jonathan lightly smiles before heading back to his room.
