Location: Azur Lane Base, Pacific Ocean
After the little tour around his hut, Jasper lets the girls continue to look around while he goes out for a smoke break. Jasper fires up a cigar and inhales it. Jamie appears beside him.
"Jasper..." She said in a disappointed tone.
"Uh...look. Sometimes, a man needs some time for himself, okay?"
"For what exactly? All you did was just explaining some stuff about the past. That doesn't earn a smoke. Also, why are you smoking again!? You're suppose to stop!"
"H-Hey, c-come on now. No need to get mad. This...is just...uhhh..." Jasper tried to explain but failed. Jamie sighed.
"Even if you're really stressed, smoking isn't the answer. I know I can just heal it but the reason for I want you to stop is what if in a scenario that I might...die? You may go into depression. You would start drinking or smoking. Hell, you may even do something worse. The point is Jasper is that, I want you stop smoking for your mental health. I don't want you to destroy yourself if a time like that will happen."
Jasper stopped and takes a deep breath. He then drops the cigar and crushes it on the ground.
"Thank you." Jamie says. Jasper hummed.
"Anyway, tomorrow. It seems like I'm going to have to fight my girls, huh?"
"It is the fastest way to speed the project up. The Sirens won't give us time. We need more firepower." Jamie commented. The Guardian grumbled as this is something he wished, he didn't have to do.
"...Alright."
"I know how you're feeling, Jasper. Just pull your punches."
"Well, yeah. I have to. Even at least around ten percent of my power, I may hurt them."
"You'll not, I know. Just do what you can." Jamie assures him. Jasper sighs.
"Oh, Kommandant. You were here." Bismarck's voice can be heard behind. Jasper turns around.
"Hey, Bismarck. Something you need?"
"Not really, just taking some fresh air." Bismarck says as she walks towards Jasper and stop at his side. Both watch the ocean in silence, admiring the silver reflection of the moon on the ocean.
"Kommandant." Bismarck first talked.
"Yea?"
"When your City was still standing, what were the people like back then?"
"Well...it's hard to say, honestly."
"Why?"
"Mostly because I didn't really interact with any of the civilians back then. The only time I would interact is when it was during a mission or when I'm patrolling around the City. Other then that, I was a Guardian who barely talked. But from what I can remember the people of the City live their lives as best as they can. I remember when the Walls of the City were first built, people slept by leaning against the walls while holding a weapon on their hand. Everyone just wanted to survive and when the City age came, people had homes. I saw kids running around the streets, couples going out to buy food for their family, elderlies saying hi. It was...an ideal city but even though all of these things happen. Many had mixed opinions on us."
"Really? What was the reason?"
"Many Guardians abused their power for their gain, some defected from the righteous path, and started hurting the people. That's why."
"What about you, Kommandant?"
"I can't say I'm in the righteous path nor even in the unrighteous path. I just do what I believe is right even if some people believe that is not the way. The results are all that matter."
