The New Girl

"Please Travis. Please please please" Taylor begs as she holds out her cup for the diner owner to fill with coffee.

"How many cups have you had today?" The tall man asks as he fills another customers cup.

"None"

"Plus?"

"Five. But yours is better!"

"You have a problem" he replies as he takes the cup from her and pours coffee in it.

"You're an angel. You've got wings, baby" Taylor takes the cup from the man and walks to a table.
The woman takes a sip of her coffee before she is interrupted by a man walking towards her.

"You make that look really good" the man says, pulling her attention towards him.

"Oh. It is, best coffee in town" the woman answers, politely and uninterested.

"Guess I'll have to get a cup. I've never been here before. I'm just passing through on my way to Hartford"

"Ah, you're a Jack Kerouac" Taylor replies as she eyes the man uncomfortably.

"You mind if I sit down?" The man takes a seat before Taylor can reply.

"I'm actually meeting someone so-"

"I'm Joey" the man cuts her off.

"Okay"

"What? You don't have a name?"

"No I do, I'm just meeting someone so.."

"So I guess I should get going" Joey replies before standing up.

"So soon?" Taylor teases causing the man to stare at her.

"What?"

"I'm just messing with you Joey. It's nice to meet you. Enjoy Hartford" Joey walks away just as the door to the diner opens. A young girl takes the seat in front of Taylor.

"Hey, it's freezing" the girl exclaims as she leans her head on her arms as they lay on the table.

"What do you need? Coffee? Tea?"

"Lip gloss" the young girl replies to her mother.

"I've got vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and toasted marshmallow" Taylor replies as she pulls out her bag with makeup.

"Ooh, vanilla sounds great" Y/n takes the vanilla flavoured lipgloss from her mother.

"Alright, I'm gonna go get you some coffee" Taylor walks back to Travis only to turn back around to see Joey talking to her daughter.

"I've never been through here before" Joey tells the younger girl before Taylor walks towards them.

"Yeah you have. I see you've met my daughter"

"Are you my new dad?" Y/n asks jokingly.

"You do not look old enough to have a daughter. And you do not look like a daughter. You know, I am travelling with a friend" Joey says before Taylor cuts him off.
